My very first tattoo

Well there's a 90% chance that I will more than likely get my very first tattoo this weekend. I'm not quite sure what to get, but it's a commemorative type thing.

Don't try to talk me out of it; I'm looking for people to talk me into doing it. :rolleyes:

Said tattoo will be branded onto my inner hip/crotch area. I want to design my own, but I'm looking for some motivation.

Ever seen any really impressive tattoo designs that I can draw ideas from?
 
Hmm...well, do you just want a random design or do you have something in mind that would actually mean something?

In any case...try not to use a ton of colors in the design. It'll make it easier on the tattoo artist.
 
I'm planning on using light colors. I don't want a thick atrocious black mark on said area of my body. It's a personal tattoo with personal significance, hence why I'm hiding it in that region. o.0

A random design I suppose. I want to draw ideas from something else since I'm not in a motivational mood.
 
Just keep in mind: The outline hurts. But once it's done, your skin should be numb enough so that filling in the colors isn't that bad.

Weeeeeeeell...hmm...zodiac sounds kinda clichéd...not sure if your inner thigh is anywhere to place an ode to someone you remember...
 
Haha, I wouldn't suggest going in and picking some random design they have displayed on the wall. I think those are mostly for getting some creative ideas going. I don't have any tattoos but I'm considering getting one. My roommate is really in to his tattoos, he took me down to his guy and it seems like this artist was really into the kinds of ideas that have him and his customers designing something unique. My roomie's latest idea was to get a bass guitar with some wings behind it, and this idea spawned into alot of detail being modified from just general feathered wings into wings with singed tips, a bit of ragged bone sticking out on the ends, and a little bit of dripping blood. Thing looks pretty damn cool.

Anything special to you? My ideas for what I may get aren't quite as creative, but I think they reflect some of who I am. I either want to get a tattoo of the incomplete Death Star off of Return of the Jedi, or some tattered Horde war banner sticking out of the ground (from World of Warcraft lol). It's some real nerdy shit, but they kinda mean something to me since they're my current interests and I'll admit I've been burying myself in my various interests right now, sort of just concentrating on the sorts of passions I currently hold as opposed to choosing to devote (i.e waste) that time on someone else. Selfish? Yes. But that's where I'm at these days.

There are two special people in my life; my dad and my boyfriend. Like Shen said, placing my boyfriend's name in that region might not be logical...and placing my dad's name in that region wouldn't make sense. LOL.
But am I spontaneous enough to do it?? XD

My inspiration in life is to write a book. I'm very bent on starting and completing such a project. I already have my characters and story line layed out. I'm actually pretty passionate about writing. ^__^

My art is my most individualistic trait, so I want to incorporate my own touch into the design. ^__^

Anything we can incorporate with overcoming the past?
