My take on the characters, whats yours?

Just completed 12 today so I decided to post my opinion on the main characters, what are yours?

Vaan: Poor, reminds me of a cross between Tidus and Zindane but it was interesting to have a main character who had no "quest".

Balthier: I loved him, great voice acting, great charisma, even though he was an "alternative" Han Solo. Reminded me of Spike from Buffy. Did us English FF fans proud!

Fran: Again, loved the voice acting, reminded me of Bjork. And made a great "Chewie" to Balthier's "Han". Sexy and unique. Although I have to admit I got bored of her as a playable character very quickly.

Basch: Russel Crow anyone? Probably my second favorite character after Balthier. Wonderfull voice. A shame he wasn't used enough in the main story. Too much at the beginning and to much at the end but not enough in the middle. He also reminded me of Heath Ledger in "A Knight's Tale" which I really enjoyed.

Ash: I liked her but she just seemed like another version of Yuna, who was possibly the dullest female in FF history. She just didn't grab me as a character.

Penello: Again, an opportunity wasted, she was cool but didn't get any development as a character untill the last scene. An opportunity wasted.

Just my opinions, love to hear yours.
 
Vaan - poor undeveloped character, only use in the storyline was so the game could start off realisrtically (instead of jumping into the rebel arrack as Ashe) and...erm..that was all.

Balthier - Great Character storyline-wise, terrible battle wise. loved the voice acting.

Fran - I loved her, finally a gorgeus character who kicks ass, with a sexy voice to boot.

Basch - Intriguing story, amazing tank.

Ashe - like a FF princess Leia. i liked Ashe ^_^ she had Guts, and she was bossy, but in a bitchy way..

Penelo - its a shame she wasn't developed more, i really liked her. amazing as a mage, and owner of the best shoes of all time.
 
I absolutely loved Balthier, his humour was the best I've ever seen in an FF-game.

I'm in love with Fran, her voice is so sexy :wub:

Ashe looks great and I like how she's quite the bitch at start :p.

Basch is ok, he doesnt get involved in many cutscenes which is a pity.

Penelo is alright I guess.

Vaan is the worst of them all, lousy main char bah.
 
Balthier was my fave, his voice was cool and acted always cool xD
Fran had a cool voice and kicks some ass
Ashe is alright
Penelo was different than I expected
Vaan - one word: BORING
Basch- he's a cool guy and strong, loved his voice also
 
Balthier is my favourite.
I originally liked Basch, then realised even though he was ten levels behind Balthier was much stronger.
I love that quite a few in this game have British accents... not that I don't like Americans of course :O but it sort of seems better.

One character I don't like and never use is Penelo, which seems to be the opposite to what most people are saying on here.
I think she's a bit too childish, like Vaan. Kids can't save the world.

My favorite characters were Basch and Penelo, and I am a little upset that they were under developed. Basch was the legendary hero type and Penelo could have been the heroine. I like your comparisons to star wars; since the game is basically a big rip off of it. XD

I really loathed Ashe; her personality, her look, her outfit.
Most of the characters had this awesome vagrant story/tactics feel to their appearances, but Ashe...has poor fashion taste for a princess.
 
Balthier definately stood out to me as the best charcter his voice acting was superb he sorta reminded me off james bond

Basch was pretty good
I hated frans voice but i kinda liked her as a character

the rest i found boring and very dull
 
Really glad you guys agree on how good Balthier was. As for Bond, well I think Mr Craig has got that covered pretty well. Strange and refreshing that most of us seem to agree on the characters for once!!!!!
 
Balthier-I loved Balthier. He had a lot of charisma and I liked his sense of humor. His voice acting was awesome as well.

Basch-My second favorite character. I liked his story and his voice acting was good.

Penelo-Though her character was rather pointless, I still thought she was okay. And her mage skills were awesome.

Fran-Eh, I'm kind of indifferent about Fran. Didn't lover her, didn't hate her. Her voice was cool but she wasn't that interesting. I thought all the viera were kind of bland.

Ashe-Blah. I really couldn't stand Ashe. She was lifeless. I just didn't think she was interesting enough for the story to revolve around her. And her voice acting was annoying.

Vaan-I don't know who I liked less, Vaan or Ashe. Vaan's voice grated on my nerves everytime he spoke and he looked like he was made of plastic. Very crappy main character, IMO.


I'd like to add though that I enjoyed a lot of the supporting characters. I loved Larsa, Ondore, Cid, Al-Cid, Vossler and the judges.
 
I loved Balthier.
He was great a great character in most situations.

Vaan and Penelo just seemed to be the for the ride.
I would have loved them to be give bigger motives to go along.

Fran seemed a bit underdelevoped with her past with the Tribe and Balthier.
