so i got gimp...and this is what i did while attempting a render...i know it is kinda blank, but this pic was just a test, so i didnt worry about looks, i just wanted to test myself

how is it? and before u tell me i realize the bg doesnt match the character, i did not inteand for the actual pic to look good, i only wanted to see how i could render.
 
That render looks fantastic. What exactly did you do to render it like that? I see no visible mistakes at all! Well done!
 
i used GIMP's magic scissors and free cut tools. after using the magic scissors i went in with the free cut ant took off SO MANY faults. It wasnt hard and i had no problem, it was only time consuming...i heard rendering was a pain, but its not as bad as they say
 
Quite a good render, well done.

And now that you're using GIMP you'll be able to experiment a lot more like you probably wanted to with the original while you were doing it on paint, but couldn't as the program sucked.

Look forward to seeing more and what you manage to do with GIMP.
