Most Interesting Motivation

Which Final Fantasy Villain had the most interesting motivation and goal?
I can't ever see there being a "BEST" villain, because each villain excels in different aspects.

Please correct me if I'm wrong on any of these and tell me their motivations and goals:

Final Fantasy:
Garland - Turned into Chaos and threw the world into some sort of time loop? (Not too sure on this one.) I think his motivation was ... simply because he's evil.

Final Fantasy II:
Emperor Palamecia - [I don't know anything about this villain]

Final Fantasy III:
Cloud of Darkness - Wanted to cast the worlds into the Void, into nothingness, because they were imbalanced. Motivation was misinterpretation?

Final Fantasy IV:
Zeromus - [Not sure about him]

Final Fantasy V:
ExDeath - Wanted to merge with the Void? Generic evil motivation? [Not too sure]

Final Fantasy VI:
Kefka - Wanted to become a God to enslave the world. Motivation was insanity?

Final Fantasy VII:
Sephiroth - Wanted to break apart the planet via Meteor to drain the Lifestream and become a God. Motivation was insanity/misunderstanding?

Final Fantasy VIII:
Ultimecia - Wanted to compress time into a single point so she could rule over all of existence? Her motivation was revenge and hatred of the SeeDs?

Final Fantasy IX:
Kuja - Doesn't actually have a set goal. Originally just wanted to surpass his maker, Garland, but then moved on to trying to destroy the existance of all existance. His motivation was the constant need to verify his life, whether it be that he was destined to lose to Zidane; trying surpass Garland or the fact that he was born to die.

Final Fantasy X:
Seymour - His goal was to become Sin and destroy Spira to cleanse it of pain and suffering, to give the world piece within death. His motivation was probably the death of his mother.

Final Fantasy X-2:
Shuyin - He wanted to activate Vegnagun so it would stop the war between Zanarkand and Bevelle. His motivation was the safety of his lover, Lenne.

Final Fantasy XII:
Vayne - He wanted to take back the power to re-write history from the oppressive gods of the world and restore that power back into the hands of mankind. His motivation was the power and dominance of the Empire.


Please feel free to correct/add to the motivations and goals.

So, who do you reckon has the most interesting goal and reason to be a villain? I'll post my thoughts after a few posts.

The most evil in my opinion are Kefka,Sephiroth and Kuja.I mean these didn't have anything to solve with mankind(like revenge,war and blah blah)they just felt like taking control of the planet to satisfy themselves.

I'd say Seymour had the best motivation. He did what he did because he didn't want the world to go through his pain. I probably would have killed my dad, too.

I felt that Kuja's motivations were changing throughout the game. Garland told Zidane that when him and Kuja were both kids, Kuja couldn't bear the fact that Zidane was going to have more power, so he tried to get rid of him. Later when he found out that he was immortal, he was convinced that the world couldn't do without him, and decided to take everyone down with him when he died.

I've only played IX and X, and am finished with neither (stupid trance Kuja keeps killing me), so I don't know about the other ones. But from what it sounds like, most of them are insane and/or evil for no reason. So I'd say Seymour had the most humane reason for doing what he did.

 

[Summoner Yuna]

Definitely Vayne. It makes him a more interesting character overall, that he didn't seek world domination (in a sense) but instead wanted order and mankind to be the ruler of its own destiny. Like I said in another thread, he's a Machiavellian villain who, while pursuing a noble goal, commited the worst crimes. Pretty deep for a simple video game villain.

Final Fantasy:

Final Fantasy VII:

Kinda corrected a few things here...

Anyway, Vayne or Delita have the best motivations. Vayne's the one in the pole, so...

I'd say Seymour or Vayne. They aren't the generic I'm evil I want to rule/destroy the world.
They have motives that are different. Seymour wants to rid the world of pain and suffering by becoming sin.
Which is a noble goal in a sense.
Vayne wants to restore man's destiny to man. He is attempting to empower man.
Both are more anti-heroes than villains imo.

I think Ulty has an interesting motivation.

Well, Ulty wanted to prove fate wrong. She was going to be killed by SeeD as stated by history but she wasn't about to let that happen... unfortunately fate did play out her death. I prefer the discrimination of the sorceress theory, but the other theory - (somewhat spoilers)

If Rinoa turns out to be Ulty in the future is very interesting too. I know it's been stated false, but hear me out. So somehow Squall is dead, Rinoa falls into depression and well goes insane. So in the far future (Assuming that a sorceress can't die until they give away their powers), Rinoa/Ulty wants to see Squall again. She then goes on the quest to compress time. Here she doesn't care if she kills Squall because her goal is to absorb all existance and have complete control over everything. What's to stop her from recreating Squall? She has the power. It's all a freaking quest for love! Of course, this would warp the happy ending brought to us by VIII. Actually I'm feeling a little sad thinking about this.

Anyway, i support the "Discrimination Theory". There's plenty of revenge/ defy fate in there to satisfy my interests.

I voted Seymour.

He didn't seem like a bad guy at first, but he had a creepy air about him ( his theme didn't help at all).
Then he goes insane. I believe he killed off all the Ronso tribe -except for the one that counts- because, and correct me if I'm wrong, but "they all got in his way" or something to that effect. Wiped out a whole race for something trivial like that. What a guy.

His motivation? he wants to become death it's self so he can rid everybody of pain. If that isn't motivation, then I don't know what is.

Out of the Main Series I'd have to say Kujas is the most intresting but out of All the Games I prefer Queen Remedi from final fantasy tactics advance.
