Who do you guys think is the most badass anime character ever (hero or villain)?

I'm not quite sure who I would choose....Gutts from Berserk is pretty badass, hell, every time he swings his sword somebody gets dismembered!

Golgo 13 is also pretty badass...the manga has been going on since 1969, and the fictional assassin with no name has still never lost missed a shot.

I don't know, who do you guys think?
 
this is a hard choice to try and make! if i had to choose i would have to say either Tak from Initial D, or Genjyo Sanzo from Saiyu. they are both badass to the fullest! i like tak from initial d because he is always calm and is like whatever and who cares about everything but will not turn down a challenge! Sanzo is just straight up awesome!
 
Id say Arcard from Hellsing and both Spike and Vicious from Cowboy Bebop. Arcard because he just has to be the baddest vampire around and is just such a coolio good guy.
Spike because he plays by his won rules and reminds me alot of Mal from Firefly.
Vicious is the best villian because hes just pure evil!
 
I'd say Demon Eyes Kyo from Samurai Deeper Kyo or Gemma Akutabi from Zombie Powder.
 
First off I just want you all to know that I acknowledge and respect your opinions. What I'm about to write now is just my opinion, it's not an insult or attack on your choices.

With the exception of two characters I've read about so far, all of the characters you guys have mentioned are all pretty much the same. They're stereotypical macho jerks who run around swinging swords or shooting off guns or something of the sort, and act all cool and brooding.

However, Spike Spiegel is the only one to deviate from the aforementioned category. He is "badass" (here on in referred to simply as "ba") not only because he does all those things, shooting, killing, macho. However, he is immortal most of the time. I say most of the time because throughout the span of the show and the movies, he has been shot, exploded, stabbed, dropped from heights, cut and even hypnotized and until the final episode he never dies. And even then, he does not die, for he lives on in our hearts and minds.

In addition, though he is ba due to his overall coolness factor, he has his own imperfection and as a character this makes him more real. People who admire him and try to emulate him can relate to him.

He doesn't try to be cool. He just is. That's what makes him cool.

Finally, the reason why he is oh so ba is because a wise woman once said the following:

I also add Samuel L. Jackson from the anime Afro Samurai, I think it's called. Never seen it, but it has Samuel L. Jackson, so it's cool.

Also, Gaara, no more add ons, it obivous why. And L from Death Note, he's cool. hmmmm.......Hiei from YuYu Hakusho was pretty bad ass, as was Sano and Saito from Roroken. hmmmm.....I probably missed a few....OH YES! Train from Black Cat.

Most badass anime character? I'll go with teen Gohan SS2 from the Cell Saga. Yesiree, can't beat Dragonball Z. ;)
 
You know who I forgot? Kazuo Kiriyama from Battle Royale

He's completely emotionless, a genious, and probably the most dangerous human being I've ever seen in an anime/manga. Who else could easily take out an entire bowling alley full of people at the age of 16?

-I only read the novel, so i don't know about that bowling alley part.
 
umm its no really anime but what about that guy from the japanese film casshern he did sum crazy shit.

Hmm.. Badass.. characters..

Kimimaro Kaguya and Itachi Uchiha from Naruto. Both are in a league of their own. You may say that Kimimaro isn't badass.. but if he didn't have that sickness, he could have been one of the strongest ninja in existence.

Aoshi Shinomori.. From RuroKen. I've only seen a couple of episodes from this show.. but it was awesome when I saw him fight Kenshin for the first time.. he was totally dominating, and anyone who can do that to Kenshin is a winner in my book.

Legato Bluesummers, from Trigun. All right, this guy is just insane.. He can control people to do whatever he wants them to, and he proves that to Vash more than once.. he is the first person other than Knives to have made Vash "suffer". He is so cold-hearted and evil, it's awesome.

Irvine, from Zoids:Chaotic Century is pretty cool.. him and his command wolf were something else.

And finally, Envy from Full Metal Alchemist.. was..so...AWESOME! I think he was the best character in the show.
 
Aoshi was badass, but Saito beat him in that catagory hands down. I mean, he ripped some guy in half and pinned him to a wall. Can't get more badass than that. Actually, Aoshi and Saito seem to compete for the role of "Most Badass ever". I mean, Aoshi killing the puppet guy was badass too.....

speaking of s-CRY-ed, is that any good? I was reading some stuff about it, and it seemed pretty interesting, but I wasn't sure if I really wanted to check it out or not.
