This is.. the.. greatest.. game ever made..

Monkey Island; pirates, insults, and a rubber chicken with a pulley in it.

Please someone tell me that they have played any of these four games. I need to know that others have been touched, so that I have reassurance of the fifth to come (and supposedly final!). This genre of game must continue. It is original, exciting, and fun!

Similar games include Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Maniac Mansion, Sam and Max, and Day of the Tentacle. If you have played any of these, feel free to chime in as well.

Indeed it is a truly amazing point-and-click series, very old skool.
I adore the music, characters and the witty dialogue. Managed to get all over them and the first will always still be my fav just for the memories of playing it as a child.

I found the first to be overall best, simply because it started it all off and mastered the genre. However, the third was my favorite visually and musically. The cartoony nature of it (Guybrush's elongated head) added to the experience. Not only that.. but those magnificent clouds..

You fight like a cow!

Both of you get +1 respect points for playing the series.

Favourite in the series is between 1 and 3, the first has that something about it that stands out humour and gameplay wise, 3 is by far the best looking in the series with one of my favourite voice casts in a game.

I think they messed up on number four by making it a 'move with arrows'. Interacting with the environments involved pressing letters that corresponds to "pick up" "open" "push" etc. It really took away from the experience. Not only that, but there were too many timing puzzles where you had to do something at an exact moment (the painting at the sushi bar.. that.. gaahh..)

I feel that number one had the classic interaction to it, but I really really liked three's right-click with three options. The three choices change slightly depending on what you are doing. For example, the 'talk to' option when used on a needle becomes 'lick needle'. Isn't that awesome!?

I don't even think Lucas Arts sells the first two, but it might still sell the third. You'd have to order it I'm sure. Ebay is always an option =/

Depending on where you live you can get MI3 from amazon.co.uk and you don't need the SCUMM download for it, for the first two games it'll be more difficult since people sell them for ridiculous prices. Ebay or downloading them would be the best way to go about it.
