Wow, this game is amazing. Extreme first-person action, stunning visual graphics, innovative damage system (similar to that of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune) and dynamic story.

And I haven't even played it yet. :P

It was announced and demo'd by G4 at E3 'O8 live this year, giving gamers the new hope of something to look forward to. I for one am excited as heck to stuff this disk into my PS3. It's got the feel of "Portal" melded with its first-person controls and art style...and I adore Portal, so...

Just wanted to hear (or read) what you guys think about this upcoming game. Good? Crap?

Mirror's Edge

Haven't played it but I just watched the Gametrailers review. It actually looks pretty decent. I probably will not pick it up, simply because it isn't my kind of game.

Regardless of your thoughts on the game, check out the music. It's pretty good.

It's rubbish, don't get it. :wacky:
I was playing the demo the other day and well...I can't really see what's attractive about running up walls 'an shit. And it's basically the same thing over and over again. :brooding:

I love how the game looks. The graphics are pretty remarkable from what I've seen. I also love the platforming elements. Haven't played the game yet (or the demo, though demos don't always do games enoughjustice), but I'm planning on it.

The controls concern me. Based off the gameplay videos I've seen, the controls could be overly complex.

If you watch the review on gametrailers, they talk about the issues with the controls. Apparently they take some getting used to but are good once you figure them out. I guess it's all in the shoulder buttons basically.

Mirror's Edge

Less than a half an hour ago, I had the privilege of playing the demo of this game on the PS3, and it was AMAZING. For those of you who don't know, in Mirror's Edge you play as a free runner. The majority of the game consists of the player traversing through levels by jumping over rooftops and and such.

The best way for me to describe it would be to call it Prince of Persia in First Person Mode. At first, the controls of the game needed some getting used to, but after a short while you'll be hoppin' over rooftops and disarming enemies in no time. In fact, I'd say that this game is pretty easy (at least as far as the demo takes me).

Most of the actions like jumping, grabbing ledges, and running up and across walls are done with the L1 button. There are a few other actions done with the other shoulder pads like punching and sliding.

I don't really know what the story is about, but in all honesty, I don't really care that much. The gameplay way outweighs the story in this game, which is a good thing. This game is really fast-paced and the graphics are just stunning. If you can just run through a level smoothly, it's amazing to watch.

The full game just came out on the PS3 and Xbox360 last Tuesday here in the US. This is definitely on my "To Buy" list.

Has anyone else heard of this game?

a breif description Mirrors Edge

Mirror's Edge takes place in an unnamed metropolis where a totalitarian regime monitors its citizens through invasive survallence, tracking all forms of electronic communication in order to reduce crime and quell any challenge to its power; an upcoming mayoral election seeks to retain Mayor Callaghan in power to keep the government's control on the city, though a new favored candidate Robert Pope promises to bring change to the city. The protagonist, Faith, is a "Runner", a person trained to stay out of sight and to use rooftops and other means to help deliver physical messages between revolutionary groups within the city. Faith along with another Runner, Celeste, were both trained by Mercury who also provides radio support for the two.

Faith receives a call for help from her sister Kate, a police officer, at the offices of Pope, and finds that Pope has been murdered, clutching a piece of paper with the name "Icarus" on it. Kate tells Faith to find out more and to report anything to her superior, Lt. Miller

and heres a pic of Faith

I'm getting mixed emotions on this game now, and I actually think I'll buy it for Christmas xD
To start with, I just D/L the soundtrack, and to put it simple, it's brilliant. Even though it's exactly the same song 11 times over, the fact that every version has a remix and different beat, different way of singing is superb. And I'm starting to get into the actual game itself after I managed to get up that wall on the demo. >.>

Ive yet to play this but i think it looks great. Only downside is that ive heard its really short

Hmmmm I do not know Mirrors Edge looks like a great game but am not really sure if I want to get it because am getting alot more stuff. I might buy Mirrors Edge for 360 one day I am not really sure. Hows the gameplay?

I have to say I'm uber-jealous of the Mirror's Edge developers. A few years ago, I pitched to my friends a game where you played a platforming experience in a first person perspective. The game had much more to do with strength and agility than it did pure speed and maneuvering rooftops and complex interiors. It's a much more sophisticated game than I pitched. I'm not sure if it would have been equally recieved but I have to say that I wish my game would've gotten "firsts" on that, even if it'll never be developed. lol

I seen the commercial of this game and it looks pretty sweet. If I get a xbox 360 for christmas instead of a wii then I plan on getting this game. I really dont know what it's about but I want to play it.

I enjoyed mirrors edge for finally putting a record on my gaming history, for the first time in any videogame that ive ever played, never before I have experienced 100+ deaths and on top of that dieing on the exact same crap for more than hour. Dont get me wrong I loved the game, thought I would hate it cause its first person but I actually enjoyed it, its just the many deaths and dieing on the exact same thing and having it go like that the entire game pissed me off alot. when i first got it for the first time, i did the tutorial and the first stage, and you know the long jump your first one I could never get over their, so i got pissed and never touched that game at all. Then went back and played recently and passed the part on my first try -_- overall its a good game and it had really good music o.o
