So KH 3D is starting to show signs of life.

I didn't think this should go into the news section since it's just a new image, but here you go:

But more bigger news is that they're gonna show the trailer of KH 3D at the Nintendo World 2011 conference this weekend, so should be interesting...

...Except I think S-E has it as a closed theatre thing, and they've been really good lately with keeping leaks from happening, so I dunno if we'll see anything yet :/

I'd love for that first trailer from back at E3 2010 to be revealed to the public though *_*

Oh Riku! How i have missed you!!!

Although I am no fan of KH spin off games, I do plan on getting a 3DS and Riku is my favourite character, it looks like he might be a big part of this game!!

a definite must get for me!

I'd be really interested in controlling Riku again too. I was so happy when I foun dout he had a POV back in CoM, so I hope we get more insight on him in this game ^^

So I'm not sure if this is the trailer I mentioned before, but someone posted a vid of Nintendo's 3DS Lineup:

@ 0:27 there's a couple of seconds of the KH 3D footage. Nothing major, but better than the few screen shots I had to tide myself over with for the last couple of months xD

If nothing else, the 3DS really does seem to have really good graphics.

I really like that picture. This game looks like it's going to be a lot of fun and the graphics are amazing.

Edit: BlazBlue was in that video I didn't know that would be on the 3ds sweetness!

Stupid question: Is this simply a port/remake of the first game being put on the 3DS? That's what I always thought it was... But if it is, then if I get a 3DS, I may give the game a chance again. I didn't really enjoy it on the PS2.

It's a totally new game and apparently they're making an effort in filling the game out with new worlds rather than rehash existing ones. It's kind of the "next big KH game" before we ever see KHIII.

Aw, that's unfortunate. :( There's too many KH games being made anyway -.-

That image does make the game look very much inviting to play. The only problem is that I wasn't planning on getting an Nintendo 3DS anytime soon, at least not until the price starts to lower (which won't be anytime soon, I'm aware.), since its the price of a normal gaming console. Maybe one day I'll get it, and will be able to play this game - but the wait may be longer than I had to wait to get my PS3 . :jtc:

Well the the video's gone :mokken:

Now I wished I nerded out and record it like I wanted to...

EDIT: Ah ha! I found a vid on youtube of just the KH footage, so check it out if you haven't already:

It still isn't anything special <_< >_>

I commented jokingly once how this game will end up being some dream or something that technically doesn't happen in the game's reality-I'm started to think it may end up being something like that actually. How else does the setting and character design make sense then? o_O

So what exactly is this game about? Where does it take place? Or rather, when does it take place?

I too, thought it was a port of the first game >.>

^ No one really knows yet. That's why there's the speculation =D

Looking at Riku and Sora, you'd think it took place before KH2 at the very least, and the footage and screen shots (even the promo pic above) are showing Traverse Town from KH1. It's just that huge ass Nobody also standing around that throws a major curve ball.

That E3 2010 trailer, I still haven't seen it, but here's an article summary of the trailer contents someone wrote up a while back:

The trailer starts off with Sora and Riku sitting out by the starfruit tree on Destiny Islands. Then Riku disappears in a swirling flash of light. Sora calls after him and runs around the island (the game switches to gameplay here).

Sora runs through the island a bit, showing off the locale. It looks exactly like it did in the PS2 game. The thing that makes me think it's not a port is that Sora already has the glide ability, which he uses to soar around the island a bit.

The game cuts again and shows Riku waking up Traverse Town (the main hub world of the PS2 game). He goes into a courtyard and is surrounded by a bunch of Heartless. Then he looks up and stuff gets crazy.

The sky starts raining Soras.

No seriously. A dozen unconscious Soras slowly float down from the sky like a cute boy meteor shower.

One of the Soras lands and busts out his Keyblade. The game switches back to gameplay mode here and shows Sora bashing the Heartless. After all the Heartless are defeated a huge soldier Heartless boss rises from the ground. Before Sora can battle him he snaps awake, back on Destiny Islands, sitting with Kairi by the starfruit tree. The camera pans up to the night sky and shows the title screen, Kingdom Hearts 3D.

So...

Urrrrghhh it sounds awesommmeeee!!!
although hearing that the 3DS only has a battery life of 2 - 5 hours... i might hold off on getting this game and the 3DS until its cheaper... :( this makes me sad!

Ah, okay xD

With all the screenshots and whatnot, it looks like it takes place during the first game, or is a port.

Wow, I can't wait to find out what its about xD

I am only interested in knowing that this is linked to Kingdom Hearts III in some way. Kingdom Hearts III will not be out for a bit so I guess they made this in the meantime. It is linked to KH III though I think :hmmm:. Kingdom Hearts III can not take as long as Final Fantasy Versus XIII to develop. That would just be overkill on SE's part which is a bad thing. Also it is raining Sora's? What the hell xD

It's a totally new game and apparently they're making an effort in filling the game out with new worlds rather than rehash existing ones. It's kind of the "next big KH game" before we ever see KHIII.

This. I've heard KH3D is the bridge to Kingdom Hearts III, kinda like Chain of Memories was to Kingdom Hearts II I guess. It's just annoying that it'll be released quite close to the release of the 3DS which means the handheld will be full price. Hopefully someone will figure out how to rom it so I don't have to pay for the game or handheld. :busta:

I don't get how KH3DS can be a bridge to KH3 when they look as young as they did in KH1 :S Shouldn't they look like they did in KH2?

YOU MUST THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX

(or zipper pockets in Nomura's case :wacky: )

Look at Re:Coded for example. While it's a KH1 interface, it takes place after KH2 due to that obscure message in Jiminy's journal he discovered. It's the digital journey that's through KH1, but the whole process of discovering the message and such still takes place post-KH2 O.O

Going by that trailer description, it feels all the more believable KH3D will be some dream. Sora had all those funky dreams in KH1, so there could be a connection to that. How that incorporates Riku, who knows-maybe he too had dreams in KH1 but never said anything.

...Speculation is fun :awesome:

This makes me want to play the KH series all over again so I can understand everything better. I've srsly forgotten a lot of stuff that happened and can't even think of how they could possibly tie the games in because of it!

i wanna theorize too! >:C

I was checking GameFaqs, and someone posted a translation of what someone else posted on Twitter about the trailer that showed at Nintendo World 2011

- In the beginning, you see Sora and Riku standing on the beach of Destiny Islands.

(Tg: Makes me think of this image, I suppose? Although, we're starting from where BbS has left us so.... : http://files.g4tv.com/ImageDb3/255025_S/Kingdom-Hearts-3D-.jpg)

- All of a sudden, Riku is falling and a a light, similar to dashi*, comes out of his body.
(* dashi powder - Japanese soup stock usually used to make curry.)

- In the next scene, Riku disappears. Sora calls out for Riku, running and gliding all over the island searching for him.

- Afterwards, there's an appearance of Sora falling asleep (unintentionally) on the branch of a Paopu tree on the island.

- The battle scenes, such as Traverse Town, were open to the public in E3, but not in this Nintendo World event. :(

And then, further reaction about this was the person saying that the 3D was beautiful.

Taken from here

I wonder what the light leaving Riku is suppose to mean. I mean, yeah, he embraced the dark, but in the end he has both dark and light :hmmm:

EDIT: lol, the Raining Soras xD

So....that doesn't sound like a port.

I certainly hope its not a port, but I'm having a hard time figuring out the story if that card game for KHs happens before II, where does this game place during the story? :O
