Help Mateus

First of all I'd like to lay out my general battle strategies thus far which have lead me up to this point. I'm actually proud of it, and it might come as a surprise to some of you, and it might even help you.

Fran is the highest level character @ 32 because I never switch her out. The rest of the characters are 26 - 28. Basch can weild Bows and Swords. Ashe and Panelo weild swords. Which means I only have to buy swords, bows and hammers. Which leaves Balthier and Vaan using hammers / ninja swords. I switch out the characters, and optimize their equipment - removing the equipment from the switched out party members. This saves me gil. Currently I have over 80,000 gil.

The problem lies in fighting Mateus. To those of you who fought Nebudal (That ghost thing) I just used a phoenix down on him, and 1 hit KO. But Mateus is different. At first I tried casting reflect to ward off the ice creatures she summons but that just left me without being able to cure my characters and using up my hi-potions. All of my characters have ALL of their quickenings, and this still barely puts a dent in her HP.

So what's your strategies for defeating this Esper?

I am going to admit that I used only Vaan, Asche and Basch and when fighting Mateus I was level 35 with them all and well I had all the best equipment for the time and all I did was attack the surrounding enemies and keep my gambits so they casted Cura when needed and then when they were gone absolutely destroyed Mateus.
