Will we ever use materia?

Do you think that materia would ever be used at this date and time or in the near future. Why or why not.
 
No, becuase I just don't think it possible to be able to use such things. Elements cannot be weilded as they are in Final Fantasy and so I very much doubt that will change in the future. The elements are only triggered by us, otherwise they are uncontrolable.
 
for all of you who said no well the answer is yes. see it may not be orbs but think we have lighters flamethrowers their is nothing we cant do dont you get it imean alchemy chemisry science all of this we can do anything it may not be as powerfull and we cant summon stuff like ancient monster souls but we can contol the elements pick up a few books and read you all didn't pass this test.
 
We trigger elements, we don't control them. With materia the user gains the ability to control them. Having a machine do the work or a device for that matter is totally different from controlling the elements.
 
If in the future i see Bahamut flying about den i will believe that it is possible, but if not u can't sway my mind.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be good, becaus i would love to blow my enemies away with ULTIMA or COMET. lol
 
I seriously believe maybe not her ein the near future or wihtin our lifetimes mayhaps, but yes indefinately ni the future sometime that we will be able to control elements. I mean take the prime example fo the battery. Right there is a great way we store ENERGY. I think that eventually a way will be discovered to sort the energy of certain elements (lightning/electricty prob bieng the first) and be bale to harness it using as stated science and alchemy.

Doubt it'll be called materia though :P
 
I voted no, and I can only put down the 7-4 lead in favour of 'yes' as being down to too many hearts ruling heads. Can you really imagine Tony Blair standing in front of Downing Street and announcing - "Gas and electricity is all used up. BUT...don't despair. We've invented materia!".
