ok hear that this game shouldn't even be in the main series cause it don't follow the final fantasy format but i believe that it has more right to be a main game then ff10 and deffently ff11 so post your thoughts on this issue here

oh and 6 through 9 made the format used for the best ff games

I dont understand what youre going on about. Shouldnt be part of the series because it doesnt follow the same format, yet it should because its better then 10 and 11? Confused!

It deserves to be where it is. How doesnt it follow the format? All the Final Fantasys are different, thats what makes them a great series.

people say ff8 should not be in the main series cause it don't follow the format of the earlyer and 1 newer game which it really does but they praise ff10 and ff11 for being so great yet they are farther off of the format set up by the leading ff games even rateings have started falling
(ff10 and up has not recieved a better score then a 90 yet from ff4-ff9 all got 100)
here i will call a smart person to the stand lupine

Maybe you should word your posts better. Seriosuly, its becoming difficult to understand you.

I dont recall anyone saying 8 shouldnt be part of the main series cause it doesnt follow others. Personally thats a stupid reason as Ive already said, none are really the same. Thats what makes the series so popular, because not every game is the same. Different characters, battle system, time periods.

What format!? Do you mean in the story, battle or something else?

And of course FFVIII as to be considered one of the main games of FF.

All the FF titles from I to XII are main titles!

FFX-2, FFVII Dirge of Cerberus, and so on...cannot be considered main games because they follow and already pre-existing story.

As for the others of course they are main titles that´s why they are named FFI,FFII and so on...

...jimmy you got the idea the story the battle and alot of the stuff is usually the same bones just different body
example
ff7 you are fighting your formar friend to save the world and in ff8 you are doing the same thing

That is only a minor plot in the game of 8. The main plot is to save the world from an evil sorcesses. Fighting Seifer is just a tiny plot.

And what other stuff? The music, story, battle system and characters are all different.

no people on msn and other sites that have chat rooms say that it should not be considered as a main game.
and star the ff victory tone was the same from 1-7

Well thats their opinion isnt it? How they think that is beyond me as it comes after 7 and before 9 for God sake! Of course its part of the main series. These people are idiots.

Well, this thread is... incoherent.

Doesn't follow the same "format"? So basically what you're saying, is that all FF's should be the same? What an absurd notion. The series would plummet if every game they released was the same. FFVIII broke away from what we were accustomed to because 'different' is good. Sure, the GF's consume a lot of the battles, and the magic system is completely altered... doesn't mean to say it's undeserving of the title it has.

no saix i am not saying that it is just there are some simple stuff they try to follow on the games like the way of fighting in 11 it is hack and slash while in most of the other it is turn based

Final Fantasy VIII fully deserves its status as a Main Final Fantasy Game.

I think you may be confusing the fact that some people who hate VIII, feel that the game should not have been labeled a Final Fantasy at all, but to say that it doesn't belong as main title, makes absolutely no sense at all.

It is an FF title after all, but I was severely dissapointed that FFVIII lacked the cliche aspects that make me love the series.

There are only 2 games I feel that shouldn't have been part of the main series.

Final Fantasy XI. FF is always different in every game but this was an MMORPG and I feel that it should have just been a spin off title rather than apart of the main series.

Final Fantasy XII. This game just FFT to me. The world, the races, some designs (Most notably Moogles), The Judges, summons that have appeared in FFT. I would have probably appreciated this game more as a Final Fantasy Tactics game rather than a Final Fantasy game.

As for FFVIII? I think it does deserve to be there. The only thing I can think of that took a massive change in direction was no MP for magic.

I have no idea why it wouldn't be considered part of the main series. Whoever says that is clearly a little messed in the head. Not like it matters really though, FF8 is a good game, regardless of wheter it has the FF title or not

Me either, I mean, all Final Fantasies are what they are, games that have the same theme but different looks.
But, as your saying, judging by the format, then maybe we should take out X and XI as well, the latter being because it was online and no other Final Fantasy before that was online either.

FF is meant to be different at each stage.
It's the theme that makes FF an FF.

They are all main titles. Final Fantasy XI is the only one that's even remotely arguable since it was in such a different format. All the games though are still Final Fantasy. Ones that are NOT part of the main series are games like Final Fantasy: Tactics, Dirge of Cerberus, Final Fantasy X-2, etc... because they are spin-offs or unique ideas based on the main series games.

This is a frigin awesome game i dont see why it wouldnt be considered one of the main series.

Every FF game is a part of the main series its just sum are radically different from others XI bein an example.
