maybe its a bit early to be thinking about the new rpg, but i was thinking i am gonna try and be a magic user. so was just wondering if theres any weapon that increases magic power instead of attack power. also like how powerful are the spell since i can't really tell since my guy couldn't use magic. i know we might not be able to answer the question regarding the new rpg since im not sure how its gonna be, but in term on this rpg would be good too.

also the new rpg, will there be like new area, new bosses, new storyline, or will it mostly be the samething with just a mass reset and some added/ deleted things.

The new RPG is always remade with areas, monsters etc etc, as for weapons, aside from adding mods (which aren't happening in the next RPG) there is no way to boost magic power with weapons/armour. And spells are not yet planned, however they will hopefully be suitably balanced to warrior power.

well that kind of sucks then. that mean there is really no other way to boost magic power in the new rpgs since there won't be any mods.

so im guessing to even things out, magic spell will be stronger, last longer, less mp cost?

It is the fault of the developer of Inferno. The game basically was designed with a preference to melee. There is no magic stat in weapons and armour. Also to get better armour, you need str as well.

I am working on how to balance the game for mages. One thing I am doing is allowing def and magic def to max at 600, while str will remain 300. One thing I could do to balance things would be to increase the attributes added for magic. Since weapons help with str.

We may have to consider some mild modifiers for mage equipment as well. Since it would be kinda worthless to use stuff which isnt helping. Mages cant travel around with nothing either.

I can't be arsed with all this, I like spells, but as the RPG progresses, magic becomes exceedly weak in comparison to weapons (Melee attacks), then it gets rough...Warrior is the safe way to go, pretty sure their attacks will pack a significant enough punch to them to get through battles. :P

But yeah, balance is huge, it'd be great for players in general if Mages weren't so underpowered, all players are basically forced to stick to hitting with weapons if they want to succeed, or team up with someone who does, otherwise... :ness:

i don't know but for me, i was getting a little bored with being a warrior user since its basically only attacking with attack type and you pretty much only could use one at a time. atleast with trying to be a mage, there should be more variety and hopefully less repetative

We have done some modifications with the way magic attributes are added. Also, attack types will not be as powerful in this game. To get weapons enchanted will be a lot tougher as well. No more over powered weapons with overpowered attacks. Hopefully things, in this game, will be more balanced.

...aw crud, I never said anything about weakening everything else to bring them down to Mages' level, Mages ought to just plain be stronger than they were, I hate being weak, I don't want all non-Mage stuff to get brutally nerfed to inferiority, I planned to be a Warrior. >_>'

I always have something to worry about in an upcoming year of RPG Inferno...I'd like to just enjoy the holiday season without fretting about my coming year in the RPG at FFF being all messed up because the "balancing" process be addressed wrongly, and it's easier to strengthen one thing then to weaken everything else, anyways. >_<

Nothing is getting weakened. Just that Magic is being made stronger by changing how its attributes are added. Also DEF will be encouraged. Since it seems a lot of people go to no def with high eva or dont add to def at all.

...No more weapons with overpowered attacks.

^ I suppose that means nothing, then? Those are the parts that I based my post on, sounds like more than strengthening magic power and spells to me... >.>

Attack Types and enchantments were overpowered last game. Also there are glitches in Inferno which got abused with them.

i don't know if this is possible or not, but could it be made so that def stat determine the amount of weight you can carry since mages don't really need strenght at all and it seems like a waste to put stats into str just so they could equip heavier items since it will still probably be too low to do decent amount of damage. yeah it doesn't really seem logical that def would increase the weight you can carry but it would make it easier to be a mage. and that would also make people increase their def stat without having to make monster stats higher so people will actually put points into def

@Bolt: He was talking about "warrior types not being as strong" because he meant that Mages are going to be stronger. The Warrior type has always been easy to use. I remember two RPG's ago... Ruka mopped the floor with me as a Warrior and I was an Assassin. Well, that, and my stats were too spread out.
But anyway, I will also go as a Mage. The new Christmas event is great; last time, I couldn't do half the stuff in 2008's Halloween event. This is better suited for lower levels.
