Magic question

I'm drawin magic from enemies and wonder can I and when can I draw aga's(thundaga firaga Curaga etc.) cause i dont wanna waste my time drawing thundara if i can draw thundaga one mission later

I'm on disc one at the Deling City Mission & The Tomb

I can't quite remember when you can draw the Aga spells...but I don't think you can in disk one, unless you refine. I could be wrong though, FFVIII is not my forté.
 
learn the GF abilities ie F-mag rf
they will allow you to refine magic from items, this is a much more effective way of getting magic than waiting for drawpoints.
 
Your GF'c can learn abilities that can either refine items into magic, or you can 'upgrade' magic to higher level, its summa tlike 5 fires make a fira, and 5 firas make a curaga or somthing. I think the skills are Mid mag rf * High mag RF. Im fuzy becasue its been a while. I never really bother with htose though, unless i have a few straggly magics taking up room

Answering hte original question, just draw the 'ras' you wont come up against agas for a while anyway, other tahn drawing with high magic to maximiase drawing 9 at a time - just scavenge items, teach your GF's abilities and refine away, I find that the most effective way, especially when you have a good collection of items at your disposal
 
You get certain items from enemies -- you can win them, you can steal them, etc. Some of these items can be refined into magic using GF skills -- Mid Mag Refine, Forbid Mag Refine, etc. Although the conversion rate is low, it still is quicker than drawing. I think some items can be refined into any of the elemental magics: Wizard stones or magic stones I think

mid mag rf will refine middle level magic from an item or other magic. High mag rf will do the same but with high level magic ie thundaga.
Now abilities like F-mag rf, I-mag-rf refine specific magic types from items. F-mag rf = fire I-mag rf - ice.
 
If I remember right it has to do with your level. Because at the beginning of disc 2 I was drawing the 2nd level magics. But if you dont want to level up I would definitely go with what all the other people said. Just have your GF's learn the abilities that they need and you will have all the higher up magic you want. Of course you need certain items to get certain spells. Like I think 100 M-Stones will give you 75 level 1's, 50 level 2 magics, and so on and so forth.
 
Oh tahts right, the monsters level up with you, so as they level, they will have better magic to draw. Im pretty much assuming once you are 30 plus, you will be able to draw the aga's and other random better magics from enemies
