I don't know about any of you but, after playing Crisis Core, I'm rather intrigued about the play, LOVELESS. From what I've been able to gather, it sounds like it would be an epic play - it's definitely one I'd be interested in seeing or reading.

I'm kind of hoping VII gets milked even more and SE produces the official LOVELESS play in some form. Even Cid mentions how amazing it is, if you talk to him on the Highwind before departing for the Northern Cave.

Hmm, I don't remember Cid mentioning it in the game, but I don't doubt you. The LOVELESS play was referred several times throughout the entire game and it's nice to see it made into something big and essential in Crisis Core. It did interest me more about the play and I've read some theories about it. http://www.finalfantasyforums.net/crisis-core/loveless-20562.html

Some are a little far-fetched but others do make sense.

I remember Cid mentioning it, and at the time I wanted to know more about it, but Ithink Crisis Core went abit overkill about it...

It wouldn't surprise me if they DID make something from it, now you've said it out loud, the radars will be on giving them other money making ideas

Aaaanyway, I couldn't care less to be blunt, Im sure they are gunna whoire every inch of FFVII anyway, so why would they miss loveless out

I wouldn't become interested in it because it would be a whored out addition to VII; I'd actually become interested in it because it sounds like a genuinely good piece of literature. The fact that it's featured in VII and might make some cheeky references would just be a plus.

EDIT:
Mits, feel free to just merge this thread with the other one, by the way. It's essentially the same thing, if I just say that I didn't tire of Genesis's obsession with LOVELESS.

There was even a reference about the play, or at least a theatre where the play was showing, in Advent Children.

When we first see Edge City, when all those clips are happening, you can see a sign or a banner of some sort with the word LOVELESS on it. Apparently there's a street in Edge called Silent Street. I can't remember exactly when the clip showed, but I can watch the movie again and check :P

All of the things that Mitsuki provided seem a little bit extensive.

During a scene in chapter 4, Genesis says to Sephiroth, "Three friends are now gathered. One will become a prisoner, one will take flight, and one will become a hero."

(Or something like that. I JUST passed that part of the game)

Genesis doesn't seem to be quoting LOVELESS when he says that though...Or is he. If anyone is near or around that part of the game, please have a look and see what you think.

Is he quoting LOVELESS, or is he having verbal diarrhea?

If it is that he's quoting the play, than it would make a substanial difference to LOVELESS's plot; implying that the story about 3 friends.

And I don't think it's plausible that LOVELESS has any regard to Zack or Cloud, since the play was written before Crisis Core began.

It could be that LOVELESS holds some regard to Sephiroth, Genesis, and Angeal though...I don't think it's mentioned how long ago LOVELESS was written.
However, it was written far enough back for the final act to have been lost...

Maybe Lucrecia wrote the play. Who knows. lol.

If Lucrecia wrote the play, I'm sure there would've been hints about it in DoC. And I'm sure she would've thrown in something regarding Vincent. I don't know. I'm just rambling.

If anyone wants to read the sonnet version of LOVELESS, here it is.

Prologue

When the war of the beasts brings about the world's end
The goddess descends from the sky
Wings of light and dark spread afar
She guides us to bliss, her gift everlasting

Act I

Infinite in mystery is the gift of the goddess
We seek it thus, and take it to the sky
Ripples form on the water's surface
The wandering soul knows no rest.

Act II

There is no hate, only joy
For you are beloved by the goddess
Hero of the dawn, Healer of worlds
Dreams of the morrow hath the shattered soul
Pride is lost
Wings stripped away, the end is nigh

Act III

My friend, do you fly away now?
To a world that abhors you and I?
All that awaits you is a somber morrow
No matter where the winds may blow
My friend, your desire
Is the bringer of life, the gift of the goddess
Even if the morrow is barren of promises
Nothing shall forestall my return

Act IV

My friend, the fates are cruel
There are no dreams, no honor remains
The arrow has left the bow of the goddess
My soul, corrupted by vengeance
Hath endured torment, to find the end of the journey
In my own salvation
And your eternal slumber
Legend shall speak
Of sacrifice at world's end
The wind sails over the water's surface
Quietly, but surely

Act V

Even if the morrow is barren of promises
Nothing shall forestall my return
To become the dew that quenches the land
To spare the sands, the seas, the skies
I offer thee this silent sacrifice

Here is the (approximate) dialog from Final Fantasy VII when LOVELESS is mentioned by Cid--

Cid: You ever see that play, LOVELESS?
Cloud: Yes.
Cid: Yeah? Really? Well that's fine. They've been doin' that play every summer since I was a kid. An' I remember seein' it, just once. That was when I was in Midgar, interviewing to be a pilot. I had some free time and thought I'd catch that play. Now, I ain't no big fan of the theater or anything, but this play put me the hell to sleep. Finally, durring the last scene, the guy next to me wakes me up, tellin' me I'm snorin' too loud.
So all I remember is the end. The sister of the lead asks her lover, "do you really have to go?" And the guy says "Yeah. The people I love are waiting." She goes "I don't understand. Not at all. But please... take care of yourself." Then he says "Of course I'll come back to you, even if you don't promise to wait. I'll come back knowing you will be here." I remember thinking, hearing those lines... '*&%! What the hell is he talking about?!?!'
