Hello all, recently I've been getting into GFX because of hints from my mate Sam, anyway I've started off simple and downloaded gimp and have been playing around with it trying out all the different effects and such and well here is some of the work I've done. Please note you can use these if you ask first and on top of that they are done so if you claim them for your own work people will know its not. (Its called watermarks)

I like the first one the best. The blendings pretty decent and the txt suits the edgy look of the tag. Im not that fond of the colour, i would have chose something darker to contrast the render better.

I would really recommend getting photoshop. I used gimp and found it really confusing and complicated. Photoshop however is fairly simple and far more advanced than anything else out there.

You can really distinguish GIMP users from PS users :)

Your first one is the best, definately, the reason I said you can distinguish the difference is because of text and brushes.

If your gonna continue to use GIMP I suggest alot of text tutorials or not using text at all, thats your major flaw.

What I do like about you though is you have a good sense of colour, you use colours from the original renders :)
 
I never got round to learning gimp it was just too awkward i preferred pdn. But photoshop is where its at.
 
Well right now I am saving up to buy the most recent version of photo shop and till then I'm using gimp.

I know my text is my downside and thats why I'm using it to try and get better at using it. I also took Requiems advice and looked at some text tutorials but didn't learn much lol.

Anyway heres a couple more. Both are Code Geass ones lol.

This is a effect I learned in a tutorial, its called ghosting.

actually thats not true, I could find a GIMP sig and compare it with a PS sig and you would never know the difference:P

Anyways great work mate, try leaving text out till you get a tad better
