Hey there guys, it's time for us to kick off a brand new let's play with quite possibly the best modern-day JRPG to be released: Lost Odyssey!

This time, instead of any opening cinematics or anything, I thought we'd throw the amazing Prologue song out there for the opening video. The soundtrack is something to seriously look forward to...which it should be! It was made by the FF music champ himself! :)
Lost Odyssey is a typical JRPG, but one that has both grown onto the modern consoles amazingly well (unlike most others) while still keeping everything that made older JRPGs great!

The game was brought to us by Microsoft Game Studios, Mistwalker and FeelPlus and was in no way made by me. This song wasn't made by me either, naturally. They did a superb job! ;)

Lost Odyssey is available only on the XBox 360...I'm surprised it wasn't at least brought to Steam with all the fan support that the game has? Moving on.

Thanks so much for watching! We'll kick things off properly tomorrow and dear Lord, I can't wait! :lew:

Episode 1: The Great War

http://youtu.be/2fw_NQPSsTo

Hey all, let's get started on something I've been soooo excited for, but have held off on for private reasons (private? It's all in the vlogs, green...).

Anyways! Get ready for some action packed opening cinematics for a game that generally does much better at the quieter, more emotional sections but this cinematic is an exception to the rule ;).

The great war is all looking rather balanced until Kaim comes along and kicks arse! Thing is that the enemy knows that, so they introduce their big weapon...

---------------------------------------

Heavy Tank Strategy:

- Attack each unit alternatively (left, right, left, right etc). They defend between each hit.
- Use healing items whenever you hit say 100HP. Better to be safe :).
- Attack once more when both arms are down.

---------------------------------------

Once that's all done and dusted, we make our way through the rather bland Highlands of Wohl. It's a nice introductory area though and gives you some great practice for fighting and item-finding.

Thanks for watching! I'm so stoked that this has finally started! We'll finish this area off next time and find our way into the magic republic :D.

Episode 2: Two Of A Kind

http://youtu.be/kmOjgXKWBLg

Hey all, let's finish off the Highlands of Wohl, shall we? Actually, it doesn't take long at all but don't forget that name plate. It's pretty handy.

It looks like we have our second opening cinematic in just as many episodes! Actually, this episode is quite cinematic heavy; introducing the biggest town in the game (Uhra), a load of new characters (ohhhhh, Seth gets her first appearance! Love her so much) and the song that beats all videogame songs during the opening cutscene! Or y'know...it's certainly up there!

There's so much to explore in this huge city that we take a bit of time doing so.

There'll be more to explore in Uhra next time too with the introduction of the dreams (some amazing story telling). Keep an eye out for the first bonus episode tomorrow along with the actual episode :).

Thank yooou! :)

P.S. I think the commentary sound quality is a bit rough and I think that's because I turned the mic sensitivity to full. After the 3rd ep, I'll get that sorted (that's how much is recorded so far).

Sorry folks, no episode today. There's a huge episode going up tomorrow though, along with the first bonus episode; the bonus eps will be the dreams that you can collect throughout the game. Incredible stuff that, while you may not need to watch in order to beat the game, they will give you a huge step up on understanding Kaim and will give you emotions. Huge emotions :).

Thank you! See you tomorrow :).

Episode 3: Jansen's Triplets

http://youtu.be/GjHWRp__nmw

Welcome back to Uhra folks! There's so much to do here without even mentioning the story! From finding all the treasure (a lot of which is great!), to collecting the bonus dreams (a lot of which are even better!), to solving the elevator puzzle with the levers (shown in the simplest way known to mankind in the vid).

Other than all that though, there is the story to appreciate. Gongora seems really suspicious and really brown-nosing the old royalty: Tolten. Tolten is a character that I think you'll learn to love as the game goes on. For now...just an intro really, but it's great that he realises that he's almost just a commoner now.

Oh oh oh, Seth gets to show her true personality for the first time here too! Get ready to lol at her first encounter with Jansen; our 3rd party member! Now he is someone that makes me laugh way too much. Especially the drunk scene nearer the end of this episode. Dear lord, that drunk scene...

Thanks for watching! Now that we have a party, we can head off to Grand Staff like the big wigs told us to and have some battles etc. The game is finally about to begin ;).

P.S.
Where to use that name plate we found in the highlands of Wohl is shown here.

P.P.S I meant to raise the volume of the world map at the end but forgot...that's why I let it run a bit longer. Sorry sirs and madams :(.

P.P.P.S. I'm definitely going to try and avoid these longer episodes. The rendering is a nightmare and I don't like the length in general. The only thing is that I wanted to finish Uhra today no matter what. Collecting stuff can be a drag if too many episodes cover it :).

------------------------------------------------

Episode 3b: Hanna's Departure

http://youtu.be/ca1gezCga_M

And here's the first bonus episode! This one has the Thousand Years of Dreams: Hanna's Departure. It's a tear jerker folks...let's begin exploring Kaim's past shall we? :)

Thanks for watching! :)

Episode 4: The Kelelons' Ipsilon!

https://youtu.be/WDKNYqtiGz4

'ello again! This time around we're gonna make a start on the Ipsilon Mountains along the way to Grand Staff! This area is incredibly nice in terms of both visuals and the song...ramming trees has never been so much fun lmao!

Keep an eye out for a few of the items, including the ever amazing Ground spell, which deals, well, earth damage to one enemy.

Ha, I love how Jansen adds so much humour, or maybe it's the abuse that he gets that I love :D. Though...maybe it's deserved? I wonder what that little black orb thingy is? It can't be good surely.

Thanks for watching! We'll start our descent on the other side of the mountain next time! :)

--------------------------------------------------

Episode 4b: A Hero's Return

https://youtu.be/YqZU5HXWKFQ

Welcome to the second thousand years of dreams folks! This one has such a twist that I love, though it's naturally sad once again :(.

Thanks for watching! I'm trying something different with the next dream, based on recommendation. Keep an eye out if you fancy it :).

I love this game! The only video game that actually made me cry. >.>

I haven't actually finished it, but this has one of the most memorable music. Nobuo.

Thousand Years... <3 I still remember some of the stories.

I'll admit that I teared up in that scene in the ghost town:

The twins losing their mother is the hardest thing to watch. It's so powerful :sad3:

I know! You can really feel that Nobuo created this soundtrack. I'd love a CD copy of it all, but I bet it's really expensive. The dreams are really grand too...I'm actually voicing tomorrow's dream but I'm a bit nervous that my "voice acting" will take away from the power of it. We'll see.

Thanks for posting my favouritest of Mitses :).

Episode 5: Attack Of The Killer Plant

https://youtu.be/XtD6m6iax-w

Haha, I tried to think of some witty title to do with the effects of the soup, but my creative greatness decided to leak away for the day :p.

So, this episode shows off the first real boss of the game as we descend down the other side of the Ipsilon Mountains.

----------------------------------------

Grilgan Strategy:

- Equip fire rings to boost your physical attacks.
- Equip the antidote brooch and equip the anti-poison skill on Seth and Kaim. The actual antidote should be put on Jansen.
- Use a power drink to boost Kaim's attack further.
- Cast Flare with Jansen to do a hit the boss' weakness each turn.
- Healing is tough right now. Especially if Grilgan uses his hugely damaging move twice in a row .

----------------------------------------

The descent is really different and fun too. Make sure not to miss the Aqua spell and to hit all the mine carts for items.

Keep an eye on all the cinematics too! Kaim is feeling a little bit touchy and Gongora is playing games with Tolten; this is the one you reeeeally don't want to miss. RIP Mousey :'(.

Thanks for watching! We'll head straight onto the next dungeon next time, which is seriously stunning. There's something else before then but that won't last long ;).

P.S. Who would have thought that the electric guitar would work so well for such a relaxing mountain area? I love it :).

Episode 5b: White Flowers

https://youtu.be/Th0FjBAffpo

Welcome all to my first attempt at reading out a thousand years of dreams story! I hope I did ok...I know I stumbled over my words once or twice throughout the White Flowers story, but I hope the story still shines through.

I love the story of both Kaim's wife and daughter of the time and the flowers that learnt to live for longer. Is it due to the soil change from the earthquake or is it down to his daughter's wish?

Thanks for watching! I really need some feedback on this one to know whether you want me to continue reading it out loud, to not do commentary for these, or to do something different :).

Good job on the commentary, Greeny! The only I can think of is to maybe slow down on the reading a bit to harmonize with the tone and ambiance, but I know that even with silent reading, I was struggling to catch up when I played because the text flew by rather quickly. I really love these short stories. Made you stop and really think.

Aww, Mits, you should totally finish it. I cried as well at many parts but it mostly was the ending that made me shed tears. It is really worth finishing! The later parts of the story are so good, and the music is amazing! This is a very long time ago but somehow I remember you helping me out when I was stuck on Kakanas tank on disc 4 so I hope you still have your file because you are not far off!

It is a very lovely game and the final boss theme is one of my favourite themes ever in a video game.

@Sprout some of these videos just make me want a sequel *cries*

I would love a sequel to this, where they tighten up the battle system (expand on skills, add more spells etc) and bring in a new cast of characters (although I would be happy with the others too 'cause Kaim can have a million journeys based on his dreams or something).

Episode 6 - Serenity Sea

https://youtu.be/teTEGuk5skI

Hey folks, here comes the construction base and sea of baus areas! Make sure to check out the shop and to enjoy the serenity of the beach as you go along and you shouldn't run into any problems here.

The timing of those magical item...containers...can be a bit tricky if you stress yourself out but otherwise there's nothing really to mention. Just don't miss the spells here because they are pretty darn handy.

Just so you know, the sea of baus is one of my favourite areas in the game, just because of the relaxing music and the general atmosphere of the place. I hope you enjoy :).

Thanks for watching! We'll be moving onto Grand Staff next time (our ultimate destination! It's the end of the game folks!). Thank yooooou! :)

P.S. Keep an eye on the end because I missed the All-Barricade spell and chuck it onto the end of the vid. Not a spell to be missed!

------------------------------------------------

Episode 6b - In The Mind Of A Captive (with reading)

https://youtu.be/iNmFKx4hEtk

Hey all, it's time for a change of tone for this dream. This time, we're moving away from sadness and onto a horror vibe. It's one of the dreams that I always remember because of its disgustingly realistic tone.

This one actually reminds me of a poem called "The Prison Cell" for obvious reasons. I remember having to read it for english lit a few years back. Worth checking out :).

Thanks for watching :). I hope you enjoy this one.

Episode 7 - Bogimoray's Meal

https://youtu.be/wTKiciGyDyM

We've finally made it to Grand Staff! Yep, there's certainly a leakage here. It'll take us a week to find the problem, a week to get the tools, a week to find what the problem really was...

Plumbers, eh? *Kicks Mario up the arse*

Actually, I have a sneaking suspicion what the problem is already! Who needs plumbers...

------------------------------------------------

Bogimoray Strategy:

- Set yourself up by giving everyone the anti-paralysis skill from that yellow band we found in the Sea of Baus. Jansen needs it equipped too.
- Equip fire rings for the little minions and change mid-battle to the aqua rings/adamantis ring for the boss itself. This will hit weaknesses.
- Cast All-Barricade as soon as possible to reduce the spell it casts upon filling the charge gauge.
- Cast Prism with Jansen and either immortal after this to kill all the bugs in a couple of turns.
- Once he's on his own, go for flare with Jansen and attack with the other two. Heal if necessary, though he can't attack without charging and he can't charge without having bugs around.
- Repeat for the carbon copy ;).

------------------------------------------------

Of course, we have even more problems! Grab the treasures and heal at the blue orb before...

------------------------------------------------

Namuran White Magician Strategy:

- Cast All-Shield first to block physical attacks from the soldiers.
- Use Prism with all three straight after.
- Then just attack unless he uses shield. Then cast spells at him. Any single-target, level 1 spells will do.
- Each turn, the boss gets a free shot at all of your characters via archers. Just...keep Zephyr in reserve in case you need to heal everyone.

-------------------------------------------------

Aaaand now we're stuck in prison :/. Only, Jansen has a plan. So, we are introduced to Queen Ming (stunning cinematic here), grab another dream and have a bit of fun with a guard ha!

Thanks for watching! See you tomorrow to see what the White Boa is like, huh? :D

P.S. No dream today...I don't have one recorded :s.

Ah, Bogimoray. I had so much trouble with that boss when I started playing. It took me a while to figure out how to beat him and then he just revives. Painful boss but not worse than other bosses. I still can't beat the superboss Fu to this day.

Fu is a right turd. I beat him once before but like hell am I going through that dungeon again. Ewy! :grumpy:

Episode 8 - When The Jester Meets The Queen

https://youtu.be/KoDn__yXl0o

Shhh, it's time for a stealthy episode, where Solid Snake makes an appearance! Or...not lmao.

So, this episode is all about the White Boa dungeon along with Jansen's attempt at kidnapping Queen Ming. Why? I...don't quite know myself lmao.

Just as a sidenote, I'm absolutely exhausted during this episode (and ep 9) so I'm a little out of it due to home issues. I really apologise for this :(.

Thanks for watching! There won't be a full on episode like this tomorrow but there will be a dream or two to fill the void kinda thing. Either way, the next full on episode will show us what the town of Numara is like...I love it :).

-------------------------------------------------

Episode 8b - A Mother Comes Home

https://youtu.be/nHqMt-Zw1_k

Hello, welcome to another dream! Would you welcome home a straying wife if it meant keeping your son happy? It may make you happy too? :)

Thanks for watching! :)

Episode 8c - Little Liar

https://youtu.be/j3ZFl-M1Pug

Hey all, here's a quick question: should a child be treated like an outcast for continually lying? I feel like the girl is treated extremely harshly and that these people are horrible.

Thank you for watching :).

Jansen and Queen Ming are actually somewhat sweet when you think about it. Very awkward in the beginning but towards the end I started liking Jansen more and more.

This Let's play makes me want to play it again. I'm not sure it will feel the same though.

Sweet in a kidnappy kinda way? :britt:. They're certainly funny to watch lmao. Go play it again; you never know, you may love it all just like before :).

Episode 9 - Hop Aboard The Chuchu Train!

https://youtu.be/L998kaifOSI

Hey folks, are you ready to check out the port town of Numara? This place is jam-packed full of sidequests, although one or two are only available later on. Tonnes of items, helping some lovers, joining the kids' club...and having some time alone with Chuchu. Mix some stunningly calm and serene music into the town that reminds me of Final Fantasy 8's Fisherman's Horizon and it's an amazing place to explore ha :).

There are also 3 dreams to find right now here (1 more later) along with just the one cinematic involving Queen Ming and her army general. Looks like she's not quite in control of the situation. Bad Queen! :p

Thanks for watching! We'll be gaining a new party member or two next time who are soooo fun to watch. Get the tissues ready though...

P.S. Excuse the rough sound to my voice. I was so tired when recording that I spoke really quiet and had to raise the volume in my editor. This causes issues. I'm also having issues with my capture card..I think it's on its way out. Keeps desynching the comms from the video an is making editing very hard work (I don't think it's showing in the vids?). I think that the end of disc 1 will be when I take a small break and get a new capture card. A small break like a couple of days max :).

P.P.S. There...are no trains in this episode lmao :p.

I'm sorry guys, I've reached the point of exhaustion lol. There won't be any uploads today though there'll be a story tomorrow. I still tried to record but the lappy froze on me and I wasn't doing it again today when I can barely keep my eyes open :(.
