Land of Dragons

"It sounds to me like you need a couple of extra blades at your side. It'd make a bit of sense to find a couple of ther people, but i'm not sure exactly how long that' gonna' take, but more allies couldn't hurt. But i'm not sure how in the world we're going to get there."

Replied Hudson.

"...And who's this Sukani guy anyway? And what in the hell are you two exactly?"

:omg:

IC: "What are we?" echoed Hera. Turning to Jake, he said, "You mean you haven't told him that we aren't human?"

Jake flushed sheepishly, and twiddled with his thumbs. "I was a little more concerned about getting information and meeting people," he said hotly.

Shaking his head, Hera turned to Hudson. "I am an Allsie. I'd tell you what we look like but...yeah, you can see me already." Gesturing at Jake, he continued, "Jake is a little different. For the most part, his genetic structure is human. However, it is also part Dragon, as well as part Allsie. Once again, I'm sure you have an idea of what those two creatures look like. However, he is also part Kariyu-Shina."

"Kariyu-Shina are an ancient race, far more than the Allsies, who have been around for several billion years. But," Hera said, looking grim, "The one thing that the Kariyu-Shina and Allsies have in common in terms of history is that we're both pretty much extinct." Gesturing at Jake again, he said, "Jake and a few other kids, who I have been training for a couple years, are the last descendants of the Kariyu-Shina race. Likewise, I and my brothers are the last of the Allsie race."

"Sukani is one of my brothers, my eldest in fact." Fists clenched, Hera growled, "He's the reason that Bush is trying to take over the world. Bush was always power hungry, and I suppose it was inevitable that he began open war; he's been building up arrogance since nine eleven, and I guess Sukani really only sped it up, but still..." Hera looked up at the moonlight that was coming through the hole in the roof; it was night time.

"But, Sukani is an Allsie like me. He's been hunting down the Dragons for millennia, since our home planet was destroyed by another Allsie." Hera's face tightened momentarily as he said this. Jake glanced at him, but returned his attention quickly to Hudson.

"But, his main objective is to overtake the universe." Stealing himself a grin, Hera said, "Quite stereotypical of tyrants nowdays, eh? I've been fighting him for more than a million years, and he's slowly gaining ground."

Taking Hudson's suggestion into consideration, Hera said, "Yes, we could use an extra set of blades. You don't mind if we test you first, though, do you? I can tell right now you're extremely skilled, but I need to know exactly how skilled you are so I know how best to work with you. Partners?" Hera asked holding out his hand.

"I see..."

There was no getting around it. Hudson's hands tensed slightly and his jaw tightened as his mind raced with possibilities. Both seemed pretty good at hiding their killing intent too.

"I probably know where this is going already, but what do you want me to do? It's probably a bit too cramped for combat in here..."

Hera Ledro tilted his head to the side, and gave Hudson an odd look before turning around; Hudson had become much tenser than he was when Hera had arrived.

Hera floated upwards slightly and stared out of the hole in the roof of the car. He was met by a blast of wind that pushed his hair backwards, though he did not move from it.

They were crossing through a rather desolate area, and from what Hera could tell, they weren't anywhere near enough to civilisation to cause any real damage.

Floating back down again, Hera said, "We can do it here, we're far enough from civilisation that we won't do any harm or be noticed."

Jake nodded and they both flew up and out of the hole. Jake called back, "Are you coming, Hudson?"

"Alright then..." Said Hudson, punctuating his half-finished sentence with a a small but powerful hop out of the truck, and onto the ground below.

The strange pair was right, there wasn't a thing in sight but flat, dry land. It's be a perfect place to fight.

"So, any special rules for this?"

He was indulging in he formalities. Purely a gentlemen's game.

Hera landed about 20 feet away from Hudson, and turned his head to watch the truck speed away. As soon as he ascertained that it had gone far enough (really only a few seconds), he turned back to Hudson. He heard Jake position himself on a rock about a mile away, though the tell-tale sound was barely mroe than a whisper.

Hera shook his head. "No, not many rules. I only suggest that you avoid cheap shots. I won't lower myself to them, and I hope you won't either. Just be warned that the instant you try a cheap shot, I will stop holding back."

"Now, let's go!" Hera yelled suddenly. In a flash, he drew his Dragon Blade, the silver metal of the sword seeming to dance and ripple like the thin frame of fire it was shaped for.

Within the same instant, he went into a 'horse-stance,' positioning his legs apart, his right leg behind him, and facing Hudson. His zweihander sword was held right beside his head, and his tail arched around the other side, the tail blade hanging parallel to the sword. With his wings curled into twin arches, Hera roared, "We'll see how well you fight."

He made sure to ignore Jake's sniggering on the rock.

"Good, 'cuz that's kinda' the way I wante it in the first place."

In a flash, Hudspn's blade was in his left hand. He was avanccing slwoly, so sloly, that he in fact was casually walking towards his opponent.

Deep slow breath

He needed that sometimes to get himself and his affairs in order. There was just something about the thrill of battle that he just never unerstood. Whenever hee'd go into his little fight mide, his senses woul get sharper than his blade. Right now, he could even feel the faintest whisper of wind whorl up through his pant and suit jacket. It gave him the tingles all over.

THis guy was different. He coul nearly taste the very air he breathe, which meant that he was facing a strong opponent.

Excitement was rising within him. And the very though of a beautiful battle made him feel as giddy as a school child.

He a hoped that his opponent was feeling the same. It' make things a helluva' lot more interesting.

"This power....is growing too fast....can't control it!" Julius said to himself with a nervous tone in his voice, as if a part of him felt regretful of the choice he made some time ago. The skies darkened all around him as his soul began to be swallowed by the grudge stored deep within this ancient being's soul. Suddenly a deep emptiness, nothing, just silence inside his head and a deep white abyss all around him, as if he were trapped within a tick mist. Then the echoes of footsteps, pieces of armor colliding against each other, soon after the clouded image of an ancient warrior. Julius' eyes widened, he couldn't believe that the moment of truth, the day when he would feel the power of an allsie running through his veins.

"And so it begins...."

A certain unexplainable restless excitement had in fact overtaken Hudson's body. The blade that he had wielded in his hand would become a blade of truth, slicing through illusion. An inexplicable shudder ran through his body. He advanced forward, making sure to be at least ten feet away as he eyed his opponent up, and with a light tap of his foot, sent himself flying.

Hudson's sword swings were wild in manner. Or at least, that was the way he wanted them to look. His last stroke was a downward slash, and was the only one close enough to make any contact whatsoever with his opponent. He had apparently put so much weight into the swing that it he had accidentally tripped himself.

"Psyche!"

Hudson's free hand gripped the ground so tightly that he had left finger marks in the hard earth. Weight shifted from his upper torso to his legs and hips. A careless looking swing had become a a powerful heel smash kick as he arched his torso, bringing his legs around in a circular direction.

Hera Ledro whirled, whipping his tail forth to help his blade block the attacks. They were messy, and almost half of them were so easy to dodge, Hera didn't need to move more than an inch to evade the blade.

The final swing was also easily parried, though Hera could feel the weight and power that was put into it. As Hudson tripped, however, he yelled, "Psyche!" and two feet came flying out of nowhere.

Hera let out an audible gasp, and narrowly blocked the attack with the flat of his sword. He felt the pressure, though, and the attack pushed him sideways a couple inches, his feet making paths in the dust as they anchored in.

Hera laughed scornfully. "That wasn't nice, was it?" Hera jumped backwards, flourishing his blade and holding it forward with one hand. It looked extremely odd to see something of his size hold up a six-foot blade so easily.

"That's rather depressing," Hera said. "I expected more. Well, let's finish this then. I hope that wasn't your best, because if it was, you have a long way to go to keep up with me."

With that, Hera pushed off the ground. In a second, he traversed the distance between them and whirled around, swinging the Dragon Blade in a diagonal arc. As it flew through the air, he turned it, making it so that the flat of the blade would hit instead of the sharp end.

(Sorry about the lack of postage. I'm down in georgia with the southern side of my family, which means that internet here is shaky at best.)

"Hmm..."

Hudson had been through this kind of thing before. And like always, it was the same rigamarole. Outrageously powerful guy comes at him swinging a huge sword. Nothing really, new. Though he conceded that it a larger side step than usual.

"It seems to me that running your mouth is your greatest power."

When Hudson saw his blade coming for him, he had already prepared himself. It involved doing a move that he thought was really cool, meaning thathe hopped backwards, into a cruz position, which was a sinlge handed hand plant, with his legs spread apart.

"Bang"

Hudson made a special point of it to conceal his attacking finger, his right index finger, which was aimed at the face of his opponent. He had moved his energy about, concentrating a bit of it into his finger as he imagined -felt- the blast leave his body through his finger. He had fired one, just one of his golden bullets; and he had made a point of it to get dangerously close to his opponent in doing so.

Hera ledro smiled. His opponent, like him, had shot off his mouth. Hera saw the finger move perilously close to his head, and shimmied off to the side, watching as a golden bullet of energy shot past. Not bad, Hera thought. Maybe I should end this quickly instead of playing around, see just how powerful he is.

With a twitch of his right arm, Hera transformed. In whirl of golden flames, his fur changed from blue to silver, his tail blade and nails to copper, and his hair changed into gold, spiking up more than usual.

Hera's muscles bulked a little, though not severely, and a great golden plume of flame-like Chi erupted around his body. As the energy settled into a caressing, gentle flame, Hera smiled.

"Well," Hera said. "What do you say we stop playing around, and get down to the real test?" Hera sheathed his blade on his back, and allowed his tail to move into a relaxed state, but no less at-the-ready. "Time to have some fun," Hera muttered to himself.

Raising his voice, he said, "Come at me. Don't hold back; you will be sorely hurt if you do, for my power has doubled from this tranformation."

"This power is growing, but I require more! Hera's soul must be mine!!"

Two gigantic black wings emerged from Silverwing's back. With a strength of a thousand thunders, Julius flew to the heavens, soaring through the heavens at a blinding speed. He desperately searched for Hera Ledro and Jake, for they were what he needed to become the Emperor Dragon, a being of legend with a fearsome power. Even though Sukani's soul gave Julius an amazing power, it would come at a high cost, for Sukani would take full control of Julius' soul soon enough. Thunders, lightnings, and an yellowish red aura emanated from Julius' body, surrounding him. He cut through the clouds, his eyes fixed on the blazing sun setting on the horizon.

"Just to let 'cha know..."

His body tingled with antiipation. It was a good thing. EMotion carried with it a great certain power, that his teachers from the streets told him about. It was the reason why the best fighters and warriors were mostly those most able to keep cool under fire. Further down the line, those able to cultivate their emotions could harness them well enough to give them strength in battle.

Hudson wasn't that good, but each experience better trained him, helping to learn more as he grew in strength.

HIs anticipation gave him extra energy. THe thrill of the fight was giving him strength.

" Makin' like a hopped up andle isn't going to help you any."

He had taken a slow breath, as he surveyed his surroundings. Nothing much that he could use to slow down a guy like him. Silently, calmly, he admitted to himself that his opponent was pretty powerful. But there was also the fact that he knew nothing of whom he was fighting. And with another slow breath, allowed the energy that flowed through his body to drift to his limbs. Very little was needed at the moment, as even the tiniest bit could send him soaring. Well, that and the factor of his barely concealed excitement.

Next came the question of the approach. Hudson acknowledged that his opponent was strong. Regardless, even the most powerful of beings had weaknesses. He, nor hudson, were of any exception. A split-second analysis gleaned the fact that if Hera could shoot up an aura of flames around his body, chances were that could direct, redirect, or even channelt them as well. In addition to that, he possessed great speed and agility as well -making things more difficult- and of which was a double-edged sword for him ( seriously, how difficult is it to miss a guy of his variety and size?). He had a couple of ideas on what to do with the tail, but that'd have to be at the last moment. And lastly, the menacing presence of that long sword he wielded looked positively nasty, and he pitied anybody unlucky enough to taste it's edge.

The best bet: Close range and mid distance...And maybe just a little more wild energy.

Hudson disapeared briefly from plain sight in a single bound. Going for an overhead aerial strike was a good way gauge exactly what he meant by doubled. There was no intention in his swing of making contact, let alone making contact his blade, and to be honest, he was aiming to miss. In fact he aimed on, no planned on missing, as he prepared his next several moves in advance while in middair.

He even made sure to land in a vulnerable looking position, careful and sure to expose his blade on the side of his opponents blade hand.

Hera regarded his opponent slowly. Though he was now twice as strong as before, he had no way of telling the limits of his opponent. It seemed that he could store and hide energy, as Hera felt some of his energy spike as he observed his opponent.

Then, Hera lost sight of his opponent. He was gone in a flash, and Hera gripped his sword tightly. He stood still, closing his eyes and concentrating with his mind and body, focusing only on energy and the vibrations of the air. With a quick breeze, he had it.

Hera looked upwards and saw Hudson falling down. But Hera could see something, and didn't move as his opponent landed.

With speed betraying the Allsie's size, he leapt away in a flash, almost completely disappearing and reappearing a few feet away. Tensing his body, he pulled energy from himself into its centre. Once he felt the energy compile, he cried out and released it.

The result was a giant explosion, with Hera at the centre. It extended out in a large sphere from his body, the ground crumbling in its wake as one of the sides rushed towards Hudson, the golden energy practically leaping there.

Hudson barely had enough time to get away. His opponent was good, he sourly conceded. Experienced too. THen again, there was this tremendous sense of pride that came with standing against something exponentially stronger than a normal human being. But therein lies the key word: normal. This was something that Hudson was not, and even some of the most would conceded that going against Hudson was no easy task.

No use about thinking about something like that in the midst of a battle.

Espescially this one. Another reason for Hudson to be excited was the fact that for the first time in a while, had to pay full attention to his opponent. Not that he meant to speak ill of others, but rather, his mind just naturally drifted off to different topics all of the time.

Without a moment to spare, he steeled himself recognizing that Hera had already moved. A sharp rise in Hera's energy, and the movements of the air currents floating by told Hudson that he needed to get away as quickly as possible. Luckily for Hudson, he had been in situations such as these (but not as dangerous most of the time) many a time, giving him experience enough to know how to deal.

The explosion, Hudson was admitted was pretty powerful, albeit wasteful. He could tell that Hera strength in other faculties. Magic was a possibility, but why did he not use it on him? He surmised as much as the possibility of Hera feeling some sort of pity for him. Or maybe he was underestimating him?

If it was the latter, then, he'd be sorely surprised, and with alightning fast start, took several leaps away. He could the the waves of energy that Hera's body was producing were vibrating at a hyper speed, which would trigger a massive explosion.

Hudson's slightly augmented speed was more than enough for him to get away from the blast radius. As an added bonus, Hudson had an opportunity to take advantage of the situation at hand. A blast of that magnitude required careful and full attention, lest such destructive force turn itself upon the user.

Hudson took moment to dust his blazer off, and in a flash took to collecting a couple of boulders. Lifting them with his wild energy ability on made the boulders light enough to lift with one hand... Which he then tossed into the air to punch hard enough to create massive clouds of dirt and dust.

Hera was going to greeted by being shrouded in massive clouds of dust and dirt. And Hudson, quite clearly and carefully, was going to be carefully and cautiously lying in wait.

Hera eyed the cloud of dust warily. His energy sphere had dissipated, taking a sicth of his energy reserves with it. He already felt the tax on his muscles as they reached for the energy but only received 5 times what it took to explode like that.

The wind blew his fur this way and that, his hair swaying in the wind as he thought. It was obviously some kind of lure, something to pull him in unexpectedly, and spring a trap. Hudson was a cunning foe, Hera couldn't deny that.

The wind blew part of the dust cloud into his face, and he spit out sand. Then, it dawned on him. The wind!

Hera pulled at his energy, drawing his arms around in a circle as he sheathed his sword. Closing his eyes, he flared the sensors in his fur, waiting for the slightest sign of wind. He got it in less than a second. Quickly, he pulled his arms along with the wind, whirling them around and up above his head as he used his energy to draw in the wind with his hands.

Keeping his hands and arms moving fluidly, Hera Ledro whirled them and flung out towards the dust cloud. The wind roared as it was amplified and blasted. In a few seconds, the cloud of dust and dirt would be gone...

Time to go in for the kill

Thought Hudson for but a moment. His better judgement told him that his opponent could see, even in a cloud of dust as large as that one. Sure that might've tipped things further to his favor, but there was no telling with this guy.

It's not every day that you get to fight to fight a humanoid being that isn't exactly well, human. Wait wait, he couldn't get psyched out like this! He'd have been screwed had this been a real fight hesitating on a decision like this.

Still, he didn't ordinarily hestitate to make a move on an opponent like this. Not in a long time at least.

He wanted to finish this quickly, making his next series of steps the last of this match. He was starting to get really hungry.

A nearby boulder, larger than the last one he threw by at least three times. Approaching it carefully, he shifted just a smidge more energy to his arms to enable him to lift it.

It turns out to his great surprise, that it was light, even with the use of his energy ability. Regardless, there was no hesitation, as he hurled the boulder into the cloudy, dusty mess, and taking off like greased lightining.

Launching himself high into the air, he made sure to turn his ability off. It was a means of hiding his energy signature. Not that it'd probably matter to much to him. It was worth a shot and good for conserving his energy.

Hudson was high into the air within a couple of moments, hoping that the boulder flying Hera's way would keep him distracted. It probably wouldn't, he reasononed. Warriors that carried blades as large as his and didn't brag about it usually knew how to handle them.

It only took an instant for gravity to kick in. But that was more than enough for Hudson. He was falling --fast- but not fast enough. The only thing available at his disposal was that new technique that he was working on.

"Focus on one point, one outlet, one extention, and increase output. Take a deep breath, remain calm, and remain silent. Concentrate on the shape."

Hudson had gone over the steps for his technique in his head, for what seemed like a million times. He wasn't paying attention until he started feeling the drain. There was an orb of energy in his hand, bigger than a medicine ball. It had originated out of the palm of his left hand. One could tell at first glance, that the destructive power contanied within was massive!

The ground was now a mere twenty feet below him, meaning that he needed to get ready. He had arched his body over his side, a bit surprised by the weight. It didn't matter now though, because now it was time to toss the sunnuvabitch.

The explosion was massive; more than enough to shield his descent to the ground. Sword drawn, he surveyed his surroundings as best as he could. Human eyes simply weren't going to do it in this mess.

He'd no real intention of harming him. He just wanted to prove a point about himself: that he too, could stand up among the strong.

"...So...."

Said hudson amidst the hazy cloud of dust and destruction. His eyes were tearing up, and he found it difficult to fight the urge to cough.

"...Did I pass your test?"

As the dust cleared away, Hera knew something was wrong. He readied himself, and noticed a shadow approaching him from the dust. He split his sword into two pieces, holding his left underneath his right arm with his right behind his head. As the shadow becme clearer, Hera realized it wasn't his foe.

Cursing himself, he back-pedalled, narrowly dodging the boulder. He should have paid more attention to the energy signatures in the area. With a jolt, he realized that Hudson was hiding his. Jake was the only other energy that Hera could sense.

He's a crafty one, Hera thought, grinning. I definitely can't underestimate him, but I think I should end this.

Before he could make another move, however, an explosion rang out from the centre of the dissipating dust cloud. Hera Ledro cursed and soared into the air, almost straight up, keeping his wings pinned against his body to reduce the drag. The dust cloud swirled once and then blew apart with resounding force.

He was impressed. The explosion tailed Hera, staying within 5 feet of Hera's upwards path at all times, the heat forcing Hera to soar higher into the sky. Hera made a mental note to never underestimate humans again, especially ones who he could tell were different than normal.

In one fluid movement, Hera re-connected his sword, sheathed it in his back, and thrust his hands forward, blasting a large energy beam at the explosion, roaring as he pounded the explosion.

The heat ungulfed him as the energy beam blasted a six-foot radius of the explosion. The rest was engulfing Hera, but stayed at a 2-foot distance form his body, singing his fur.

And, almost as quickly as it had begun, it was over. Hera hung there, hovering in the air, smiling. The beam, having cut through the explosion, made a large scorch mark a few feet from where Hudson was standing now. Though Hera was not panting, his body was strained. His muscles did not ache, but they were weary, unexpectedly so.

Hera floated down to land beside Hudson. He grinned widely. "Yes, you have passed my test, I'm impressed." Shaking his head, Hera said, "You may have a ways to go, but even so, you have great power, and I would be glad to call you an ally. Allies?" He stuck out his hand, smiling.

"Without a doubt"

Said Hudson as he vigorously shook Hera's hand. There was no evil intent that Hudson could sense during the fight, no killing intent, nothing. The only thing that he had sensed from the fight was a pure will to fight.

I was a something that he greatly appreciated. Hera had given him a fight so good, that as the adrenaline coarsed through his veins, his energy began to pool together in a slow cold burn. The explanation doesn't do it justice, but the sensation was powerful and wonderful. His body was so excited, a tiny bead of a teardrop trailed out of the corner of his eye as he began to shake all over.

It was probably the first time in his life that he had fought against another who could use energy.

Hudson decided there to join them. Though it wasn't like he really had another choice. He had wanted to see this land. He had wanted to experience a fight like this again. On good terms at least. For now, they would have to quit their conversation of swords. There was a world to be saved.

Of course, he wouldn't mind training with those two either.
