Lack of Summoners...

well i think summoners realy do exist in ffx-2 and they do perform a summoners dance to take the souls to fareplane, thats why they added the new yevon religious group.... they are shurelly doing that job, or maybe like sylvanius said, only when sin was there they needed to perform summoners dance....

There is no mention of new summoners in X-2. Beclem, though he's hardly an impartial source, says plainly that "summoners are a thing of the past [...] There are no more aeons to summon."

Also Sendings are hardly perfect. Jyscal has come back to Spira twice even after two of them.

I was always given the impression that either becoming a fiend or automatically finding their way to the Farplane was entirely dependent on the person. Should they have lived an innocent life, I'd image they'd not resent the living enough to become fiends, therefore wander Spira alone in time for them to eventually find the Farplane of their own accord. My interpretation was that summoners:

A) hastened the process of finding the Farplane, and;
B) ensured that the murdered were sent, without having to endure their lasting hostility

To answer a somewhat unrelated question:
Pyreflies animate the dead, basically. If a person's passion lived on - in the instance of strong loathing for, say, Sin - then the pyreflies would react and thus take a form equatable to that person's/being's emotion [stronger the emotion, stronger the fiend].

... anyway. I gathered that for the most part, Summoners weren't entirely necessary for a soul to reach the Farplane; they just bolstered the process of finding said plane of existence. As for losing/keeping this ability once the Aeons 'died'... eh, I've not read anything about that. Can't imagine it being directly tied though.

Also Sendings are hardly perfect. Jyscal has come back to Spira twice even after two of them.
The Sending was, perhaps, merely guidance only? Jyscal had a very particular reason for remaining in Spira, So any amount of pyreflies reacting to that passion is to be expected.
