Square’s Yoshi Kitase and Motomu Toriyama told VG247 during GamesCom, that downloadable content is being considered for future Final Fantasy titles, but for now, nothing is set in stone for Final Fantasy XIII.

“As far as DLC is concerned, there is no solid plan at the moment for FFXIII,” said Kitase, speaking through his translator. “However, we’ve been listening to overseas fans in Europe and North America and are aware that DLC is very popular and something that people really want.
“So it’s definitely being considered for future projects.”

Kitase stated previously, that should any DLC for FFXIII be released, it would be something along the lines of new items, areas or enemies, and not something that would tie into the story.

I can probably resist that. It's good that they're thinking of extras people might want and giving us that option - making it tied to the story line would kind of force us to buy it (not literally, but you know).

I never liked any form of DLC that are "extras" to a game. I have seen the ridiculous prices for ridiculous things in My Life as a Darklord. But I do hope that SE doesn't jump on one particular bandwagon that western developers are opting for, in making a game slightly incomplete with content that should have been included in it passed off as DLC. Who would want a copy of FFXV or whatever in front of them with the knowledge that it is not a complete experience in the disk(s)?

That last bit seemed cool. Maybe being able to download challenging none story related bosses and such would be pretty neat, if its free of course.
