Kingdom Hearts Re:coded Confirmed For Nintendo DS [6/9]

Square Enix and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days developer h.a.n.d. are working on a new Kingdom Hearts game. It’s not Kingdom Hearts III. It’s Kingdom Hearts Re:coded.

The game popped up in Square Enix’s E3 lineup. Here’s what Square Enix has to say about it.

Sora’s journey in Kingdom Hearts II has drawn to a close, and now a new tale is set to begin. Jiminy Cricket is looking over the journal he used to document his first adventure with Sora when he discovers a mysterious message. He didn’t write it – so how on earth did it get there? King Mickey is determined to find out, so he and his friends decide to digitize the journal and delve into its deepest secrets. Inside this “datascape” dwells a second Sora who is about to embark on a grand adventure of his very own.

Kingdom Hearts:coded, a mobile phone game (pictured below), also takes place after Kingdom Hearts II and involves Jiminy Cricket’s journal. Kingdom Hearts Re:coded appears to be a Nintendo DS remix.

The very idea of Coded pissed me off. The balls to make a game that can only be played on expensive phones. But I guess if it's gonna be on the DS then I'll probably get around to playing it. I'm a huge KH fan but I'm still pissed about the game itself.

Why a RE:coded? Is it a remake of coded or a spinoff? Glad to hear about sora for once though, thats for sure.

There was Re:CoM that was a full GBA to PS2 remake with more scenes and dialog, so hopefully Re:Coded should be more than a mere port of the mobile game to DS then

Honestly, I am happy to see this come over (especially away from the mobile - I can't see myself playing games on my phone anytime soon). If it was just a random mini-game to fool around with, I wouldn't really care, but damn Nomura whom I worship so much, he has to make all the KH games important.

Even if it's a small subtle thing, there will be something important about Re:Coded that sets up for KH3 or something

I wonder sometimes if Nomura is intentional releasing these games to convolute the plot just so they can be answered in KH3.

Just released that game so we can be done with it.
