Didn't really find any thread specifically about this fighting game, so i felt like making one, and if there is one i think this is a good topic to re discuss.

I Like the King of Fighters series i thought it was a very good fighting game, i say was cause i haven't seen or heard about any new one's lately.

Personally favorite character in the series was Terry Bogard

Who's your and etc?

I'm a late starter to this series and after playing nothing than Capcom fighters for years its a nice change of pace. It's a bit more about staying on the offensive and taking advantage of other peoples mistakes, far more complex in some ways I feel.

I never noticed this until I started playing SF again but the characters designs themselves are just far better looking. While SF sorta plays on stereotypes in way, KoF are a bit more stylish in places than the Capcom fighters.

Really looking forward to XII which looks awesome. Have a look at the YT channel below to see some casual matches of it. Vids are of a high quality too so you can see the detail that its in it.

Fave characters from KoF itself? Kyo and Terry (Both original and MotW versions) are probably my faves but I generally like most of them.

My favorite character is Iori Yagami, the anti-hero and all-around psycho.

Haven't played it since KOF 2003, might pick up XII.

King of fighters hmmm I made a thread about the new one a long time ago. Anyways my favorite characters are those Sexy girls Mai Shiranui and Athena Asasimiya. I like alot more. Any Female will do for me I guess. Armor breaking was win but if I recall they took it out!

Mai is #2 on my list, simply because she doesn't appear in as many games as Iori.

And as Murphy's law would have it, she's not gonna be in XII, either.

Hmmm... what system is that coming out for, I'd like to get it
Ha everyone likes originals i guess and iori is crazy but cool.
My other favorites were Alba and K'

XII is coming out on the 360 and PS3 Worldwide on the 16th July from what I've seen. First day purchase for myself.

I'd also like to put up B. Jenet for one of my fave characters cause you have to love sexy female pirates. People have mentioned them before but I'm surprised that K' and Mai didn't make it in either console or arcade versions due to their popularity, Vice and Mature are nice additions but those two would be nice as well.

Even though they're both from the maximum Impact spinoff, I would have to choose Nagese and Mignon.

Nagese, her fighting style just impresses me and it's fun to interrupt people with her throw...Plus her pre-battle taunts with the 'Pretty boys' of the series is just something you have to see.

Mignon, despite being a ditz and pure fan service, makes me laugh with her cutscenes combined with Jivatma's scene with her...Priceless character XD

"Now come over here and give daddy some sugar."

Great set of fighting games that is joint favourite with Street Fighter for me as the pinnacle of 2d fighters. I liked the intricacies of the systems, they're the sort of games that reward you for putting time and effort into your characters ala Virtua Fighter. Which means fireball spammers and button-mashers need not apply. My only beef I have with these games are the boss battles, they are WAY too brutal. I mean I spent like a couple of hours on the 2 bosses in 95 alone just to see that one ending.

It's a tough one to decide which character is my fav but it's gonna be out of Andy, Ryo and Kim. Either of them can pull off some neat truly combos when you need them to and their desperation moves aren't too shabby either.

Hopefully XII and BlazBlue can help fighting games make a come back that many of us longed for.

Ah yes, King Of Fighters. In that ten year void of Street Fighter action Ignition were nice enough to finally bring this series over to Europe so we had a decent alternative to fill the gap, and I have to say I grew to like it more. I simply prefer the quicker, rushdown style that's associated with the series ( recently at least ) as opposed to the slower pace of most Street FIghter games.

As for characters? There are too many good ones. I tend to gravitate towards grapplers in fighting games, and there's no shortage of them in this series, but there's plenty of other good characters to go with them. Just going by who I play in XI;

Ramon, Tizoc, Clark, K', Terry, Kim, Gai, Adel, Gato, Oswald, Shen, Ash, Vanessa, Momoko, Ralf and Eiji. I'd usually stick it on random but those are the characters I'd likely pick to use from the off.

Looking forward to XII indeed, some nice changes and new system elements there. I kind of agree with the streamlined roster for gaining new fans. Asking them to go into a new series with 40 or so characters from the off would probably seem very overwhelming. Hope to see some of you online when it comes out!

I like iori because of has sadistic ways coupling with his kyo hatred/rivalry.In my opinion, it add fuel to the series.i like kyo too because of his pyrokinetic abilities and how cool his attacks look when he attacks

Well only 20 characters plus the console exclusive ones kinda sucks. I can only hope that there will be downloadable content fo The King Of Fighters XII. I do plan on buying this game the first day and to try and practice and own online. No Mai makes me cry really bad!! I hope for some Dlc! Also some other characters from XI would be nice!

Don't know about that since I like big rosters, CvS2 is probably my fave fighter just because of the roster in it and it didn't hurt in MvC2 either. But with this being pretty much a reboot of the series and the amount of effort that it takes to create one character it was expected to have a smaller roster to begin with.

If you have a 360 I shall be there to accept your challenge, you will learn to fear my 2 months worth of KoF experience!

It's not a bad roster size, its only a few less than SFIV. The biggest problem I had was the lack of the more popular/iconic characters but in the end I'm quite happy with the roster. Seems like a nice balanced group to choose from, not too sure who I'd like to use in this one.

Yeah totally. For people who play fighting games it's rarely a bad thing to have a large cast; CVS2 being a prime example. But that's for people who play fighting games as a norm, and those two games came out towards the tail-end of fighting games' popularity so it perhaps wouldn't have been an issue for the many who have been playing them these years. But for someone new coming into the genre ( as we seem to get now ) it could be overwhelming, since fighting games have been in a lull for a few years, minus Soul Calibur and Tekken. I'll take FPS's as an example. If you want to get decent at an FPS you'll need to know Map layouts and weapon uses. Take it that a large scale game will have 20 weapons and 20 maps. Take a fighting game as having to know a character and then the matchups against other characters. Bulshit mathematic system but I do feel that for anyone just coming into the series a full roster of the usual size would be too much to take.

It's certainly more to do with what you mentioned; complete overhaul of aging NeoGeo sprites and finances rather than a ploy on SNK's part, but I reckon some good may come out of it. My only grief perhaps is that it's mostly "safer" characters and most of the ones with unorthodox movesets haven't made the cut, Duo Lon and Shen arguably being the exceptions. But again, that might work out not bad for people being introduced to the series. I don't know just how likely your average shoto-spammer would cope with Gai Tendou. :P

Haha! Sadly I have the PS3 version ( or will have, rather ), so that's not likely to happen. Unless I got really rich or really stupid with money ( the latter's infinitely more likely ) and grab a 360 then it's on like Donkey Kong!

I remember there being mention of different functionality for PS3 and 360 online, can't quite remember what though. I think the PS3's was something along the lines of clans...

Shame, I was intending to get PS3 originally but Mark of the Wolves on XBLA sorta made me go with that. I've got a flatmate who's daft with money so I might get that PS3 yet.

Yeah the PS3 will have clan options which means you can team up against other clans in 3v3 matches where you only use one character amongst other things. The 360 version will have TrueSkill.

The differences don't really bother me too much, I'm more worried about how well it works online. The netcode for MotW is terrible, I've only met one guy with a ping of less than 100 (about 60) and it ran ok but anything higher than that is ridiculous especially in a fighter. I had a match which was so bad that doing a sweep with cr.D actually took a second to register and do the move.

Hopefully considering how KoFXII is the big flagship title that it'll run at least as decently as SFIV. And with matches being 3v3 we should hopefully see more varied character selection than we tend to find in SFIV.

Okay, I picked it up and some thoughts, I like what's there, but there's not enough of it :

- Single player experience is bare, that can't be denied. You NEED other people to get the best out of this game. Same could be said of any fighter but it's very apparent here.

- That said, the system itself is pretty good, critical counter isn't the game breaker I feared that it would be. With rolling and the new cancels it still favors aggressive play much more so than Street Fighter IV, which is a good thing in my books. I also quite like the Deadlock system, still trying to get the hang of it to abuse it against projectile users.

- Some of the characters have had quite nice changes but for the most part it feels like a back to basics approach for most of the characters ( Clark with only SAB and Gatling punch ), which I suppose isn't a bad thing if you're new to the series but if you've just finished with the likes of KOF XI or 2002 UM then it can seem very limited. Chin, Kensou and Iori's changes I pretty much approve of, even if I'm still getting the hang of Chin's properties. I quite like the fact that Ralf has lost SAB in a way, turning him into a purely melee fighter. Grapplers have been nerfed though, there's pretty much no invincibility on grab specials, or even supers. You can be jabbed out of supers, meaning they have to be combo'd.

- Online is, sadly, atrocious, even with the 700 MB patch which was supposed to improve it. Fair enough, I've only played people from the US so far, but I've had much better connections even on Soul Calibur and T5: Dark Resurrection which is saying something. I can't even time rolls consistently which sadly turns it almost into Street Fighter II, with people picking Ash, Robert etc. and simply playing it safe from across the screen, very un-KOF.

All in all, I wouldn't pay full price for it unless you're a die-hard KOF fan but it has it's merits. To me it's a case that they waited for an overhaul for so long that it was inevitable there'd seemingly be a step back at some point, and this is probably it. But it has me looking forward to what they're going to do for XIII now they've got that tricky step out of the way.

The only one I played was 2006 and that was a really good game and it was different compared to the other fighting games I used to, this one had real good 3D graphics for a ps2 game and I like the button presses for their moves and doathrising.

Personally I loved Chae lim,B. Jenet, Mai Shinarui and Kula Forge (diamond but I like saying forge) Chae's a good character and I like her all her moves even though I can only do her first doathrising and sometimes phoneix flower kick. B Jenet is the easiest person to play with and I win majority of my matchs with her. Mai is prett ymuch the same and I mastered all of kula forge's moves I love her last attack xD

Overall its a v ery good fighting game, loved the Neo Geo Stage (where your in the street) I almost fight their every single time I play it.
