this is about final fantasy but you cant really call it a final fantasy fan fic, as you will find out later in the story....
well here goes... enjoy...

They all stood there. Watching. Waiting, for King Raminas to choose the three captains of the Dalmascan army. Two were already chosen; Basch fon Rosenburg of Landis, and Azelas, otherwise known as Vossler, of Dalmasca. So everyone was waiting for the thrid to be chosen.
Me, I was just passing by. I had to get to the Estersand so I could pass through into Archadia. I stopped and looked up, I will admit that I was partly interested in what was going on and who the thrid would be.
“You,” Raminas said, pointing at...
The crowd parted to form a pathway, all looking back. I then realised that the king was pointing at no other than-
“Me?” I enquired?
Raminas nodded.
“No way!” I gasped.
“Yes way” Raminas said, “now please come here.”
I sighed, there was no defying the king now, was there?
As I walked up to where the king was, infront of the palace, people startedto whisper.
“A child!?”
“Can she even weild a sword?”
“She seems to think so, look she has a sword.”
“Wait, thats an excalibur!”
Attention was then spung of me and onto my sword. My sword was infact an excalibur, and one of a kind at that, crafted just for me.
I was soon by the steps of the palace.
“Look Reks,” came a small boy, “ she's a kid, just like us!”
“ I can see that Vaan,” another, Reks, replied, “ you know what this means, this means we can do anything, if she can become a captain then we can become what we wish.”
“ I'm going to be a sky pirate!” Vaan stated.
I smiled as I walked past them.
A white haired boy stared on.
Then I was standing by the king and the other two captains.
Basch smiled, most likely fighting to keep back a laugh.
Vossler, however, stared in disgust.
“ Your magesty,” I said, “ I do not mean to judge your decision, I mean I am honoured, to be sure. But do you not think me too young? Captain Azelas certainly seems to think so.”
I nodded towards Vossler.
“Azelas?” Raminas enquired.
“ Your Magesty, she is yet but a child, a young one at that!” Vossler stated, “ how can you be certain that she can fight/?”
“ In the terms of fighting, I can fight,” I replied, “sword an' all.”
Vossler glared at me.
“ Why dont I prove it to you,” I said, “Captain Azelas, I challenge you to a duel.”
“ I am not fighting a kid!” Vossler retorted.
“ Chocobo,” I laughed.
“ Why I outta!” Vossler fumed.
He brought out his sword and rose it high above my head. He was all ready bring down it down, when Basch intercepted him with a raised hand.
“ Your Magesty?” Basch enquired.

The king nodded.
“I Basch Fon Rosenburg, challenge thee…”
“Kid.”
“Kid?” Basch enquired, “To a duel.”
“Accepted,” I said,” I was hoping to fight Azelas but you’ll do.”
“Thanks, I think,” Basch said.
He took out his sword and proceed down to the crowd. As he did so, he rose his sword into the air and the crowd dispersed back a few steps to form a ring. I the followed him into the ring, our supposed battle field.
“I, unlike Vossler, will fight for all my worth,” Basch said, “even if you are a child.”
“Then this should be fun,” I grinned.
“Indeed,” said Basch.
I flew at him. He parried. He rose his sword high above me, meaning to take advantage of my height. Well I could also do that. I slid under his legs as the sword came flying down.
Basch swung round and our swords bashed together. Again. Again.
Bash. His strength was quite impeccable. Bash. He had the upper hand. Bash. Wait! Bash. He held his sword loosely. Bash. I knew just what to do. Bash.
“You hold your sword loosely, sir, you must hold a sword as you would shake a hand, sir, firm, sir” I warned, “for if held loosely I am able to do this.”
I striked at him with a quickened pace. Again. Again. I got him into a right old Chocobo. I then flicked his sword up into the air. Grinned. Jumped. High. I caught his sword ever so simply. Then I landed gracefully, Bach's sword in my left hand.
“down to the ground.” I said, I then kicked at Basch’s ankle and down he fell.
I looked down at him and said, “do I pass?”
“indeed,” Basch hacked.
I slung my sword over my back, Basch’s still in my left hand.
Basch stood.
It seemed to me that Vossler was trying not to look impressed.
The king, however, clapped. The crowd followed his lead and clapped also.
“did you see that!?” came Vaan, “she was amazing. So c-o-o-l!”
“thanks,” I said to him.
His eyes sparkled as he said, “well it’s the truth, and I don’t lie.”
“then you may want to reconsider being a sky pirate,” I gleamed, “for a sky pirate must be able to lie.”
“Ah-yes,” Vaan gasped.
Basch and I proceeded back to where the king and Vossler were waiting.
