Just Didn't Have the Heart?

Well let's try to keep this upbeat, but I wanted to ask anyone.. if they have ever been in a situation where you just didn't have the heart to tell someone about something. No I don't mean it like.. "didn't have the balls.." but I mean if something bad happened and you know it would be better to wait and them, rather than going ahead with it.

Here's a few examples..

Normal Examples:

1) We went out for bowling with a couple of buddies of mine 3 weeks back and one of my buds was lacking cash and only had his debit card on him. I went to buy us drinks and he offered to pay for his, but had recently gotten a DUI .. so I went ahead and headed up to the bar and grabbed a sam adams and then tried to charge his card for 2 drinks (him and his roomates). It was either declined or whatever.. and I was like.. uhh.. Here.. and I gave him my card. I didn't have the heart to tell him, so the rest of the nights I was buying them drinks. I assumed he figured it out a week later, but I can't accept repayment because I'm a stuborn mule.

Sad Examples:

1) My girls mom was needing to buy Christmas presents.. so she wanted me to walk her through getting approved for a Credit Card. I sat her up on Capital One, and when I finalized it on my end. It said she was denied for credit reasons. So she had to resort to borrowing money from her sister to buy presents for her kids. I told her in person though shortly afterwards, since I didn't have the heart to tell her over the phone.

What did you tell your fiances mother at the time though when it said that she was denied, before you told her in person?

My one is kind of a silly one but still.

I was over my mates house and she had made this nice dessert for us to eat, but I simply didn't like the taste at all really. Far too sweet.

But I felt bad and didn't want to hurt her feelings by saying so.

So I ate it. >.<

There's probably more but it's 2am and I can't think of any due to being tired. >.<

If its something bad, I have the heart to just tell them. If its something like food that isn't great and I don't want to hurt their feelings than yeah, I'll just let it slide. But if it's something more serious like (I can't be friends with you or I'm sorry to tell you but your dog died) then I'll tell them. There isn't anything worse than trying to avoid doing it. When they find out you didn't tell them it could hurt them more if they found out another way.

A man should be straightforward about the truth. Anything else will just complicate matters needlessly. The result would be several times worse.
