Just a random thought: Could Ward be somehow related to Zell?

Seriously, in fictional stories, people always have some sort of link with each other whoever they are. They both are kinda rough. Ward as big, fat and wields a harpoon. Zell is energetic rough and a martial a martial artist. Ward also holds Zells card (random fact).

Also, when Ward worked at a prison, Zell from out of everyone was the one who experienced Ward's experience at the beginning of disc 2 (although I do accept that this is not a good enough reason to back my point up).

So what do you guys thinks? Could Ward be Zell's uncle or maybe father?
 
It's possible, but I don't think so. Zell isn't always Ward like Squall is with Laguna. As Squall and Laguna are more or less the same age, that means that while Ward was working in the prison he father Zell. Also when if so, he puts Zell into an orphanage rather than looking after him. All of those things would have are highly unlikely as Ward couldn't talk at the time. There's no actual proof to rule him out, but it is highly highly unlikely.

I can't say I ever thought of this, I GUESS it could be possible, there's no reason why not, or any explanation as to who his parents were, but then, there was no explanation about anyone really... I think if he was, it'd be hinted at more....?
 
Uh... I sorta doubt it, but it's a nice thought. I think it's a bit of a reach. A lot of times fanfic authors will do this stuff, and unless well written and eased into... it tends to suck. But my nitpicking aside...

I like this idea. It'd be a very interesting plot twist, if they ever did decide to revisit FF8. I see how you could think it, but as Kelly there mentioned, Zell's Ma has his card.
 
The game in no way truly shows this, so i can only speculate maybe.But i really dont think so.There would be more evidence like the squall and laguna case
 
I don't think an actual connection between those two was ever established in the game, unless I missed something then I'll take back what I said. It's pretty possible, but I don't think they're related.

Squall and Laguna are never the same age. As Squall is 17 in the game and the dream Laguna is 27 (if I recall correctly).
I therefore assume you meant Ward and Laguna, which would be more correct. And even then it could still be possible. Ward may have worked in a prison, but that doesn't mean he is incapable of getting a girl pregnant.
I do however doubt they are related. since in the last 10 years nothing has been mentioned about it before. And it isn't as obvious as the Squall and Laguna thing.
 
Nice theory, but as its been mentioned, Im sure they would have said something about it in the last 10 years or so (cant believe its 10 years!!), but if people want to use it in fiction pieces, then I see no harm in doing so, after all it is fiction.
 
I've wondered if they were related to each other too...It's entirely possible...but we have no way of knowing. Ward's last name wasn't ever mentioned was it?

Actually Wards last name is Zabac. Zell Zabac sounds pretty dumb to me, but yeah.

Don't know if his last name is mentioned in the game, but it is mentioned in the Ultimania guides. Don't remember if its in the booklet that came with the game. Can't look it up, don't have the game on me right now.
BTW, Kiros' last name is Seagul (don't know if the spelling is correct, Ultimania is afteral Japanese).
 
this made me lol, haha.. but hey, ward's last name starts with a z and zell's name starts with a z also so maybe there's some connection? if it's connection you want, you can always make one.. but ward being zell's dad is pretty farfetched based on game info.. XD
 
I hate to echo previous sentiments like this, but there's no way of knowing for certain.

However, props for coming up with all the comparisons and parallels between the two. I actually think that's a great idea, and hope that it's all more than pure coincidence. 'Cause as cliche as it would be, the idea that the families worked together for two generations is a cool thought.
