Is this game worth it?

My advice?

Rent it first. The game has received very mixed reviews. If you buy it and hate it, you'll be sorry, so just rent or borrow it first.
 
I say rent a demo. that way you wont be waisting money on the full package if you dont like.

wait...is there even a demo out?
 
Renting the demo would be the same as renting the full game, so it doesn't matter if it exists.

The only reason I own it is because my boyfriend went out and bought it for me... Even after I told him not too. ^_^

But after playing it a bit, I find that it's not bad. The battle system takes some getting used to, and the story line is hard to follow (for me anyways), but so far I'm enjoying it.
 
It's worth it. The people who disliked it have no idea what they are talking about, and I'm truly not kidding you...seriously.

The people I personally know that didn't like it thought FFX-2 was amazing and the best game evarrr!11.

It's WORTH it. I'm on 80 hours, and barely have done any of the side quests or anything!

I didn't really like the game and I thought FFX-2 was an abomination.

Also 80 hours and no side quests???? I think you might have left your console on for a day or two because I beat the game with some side quests in under 40 hours.

I personally think that FFXII is overrated but see for yourself, because I also know a lot of people that like it.
 
I think it's a great game, the story is a little lacking compared to other Final Fantasy titles, but in my opinion the gameplay more than makes up for it. Also, there is tons of side quests to do (I guess it depends on how much of a completionist you are).
 
For me personally, I am finding the side quests and extras as the key feature that keeps me playing, as opposed to previous games where they storyline is what kept me interested. Not saying its a bad story, but I think its a level below some of the other games.
 
I'm at 94 hours and level 82 and there are still things to do.Whoever says they beat it in 40 hours with "some" side quests hasn't even begun the side quests or the hunts.If you were focused solely on beating the final story boss,ran through at whatever minimum levels you needed in order to do that,then,yes,40 hours is about right.But completion?Not even close.Do yourself a favor my friend and get it.If you aren't hooked by 2 hours in,I'll eat my controller.:)
 
It's definitely worth it. Particularly if you disliked the X and X-2 versions that were so futuristic, and wanted a return to more classic gameplay. I thought there were a few good sidequests (what do you call the HUNTS, for goodness' sake?) but I agree with JC that renting may be a good option. It rents for $6 at Blockbuster and is worth trying, IMHO. I rented it and thought it was excellent.
 
It's a Final Fantasy game. Of course it's worth it, I mean, how many bad Final Fantasies are there?
 
Mixed reviews? Can't say I have seen a mixed review anywhere. I know for one thing, you can't say this is worser then FFX-2.

You should buy Dragon Quest VIII. Then, you get a great game and you get a FF12 demo :)

Otherwise, it's a good game, I'd recommend it. It has a new battle system which seems like it's going to be the new FF standard for a while.

This whole thread has been a mixed review. Some liked it, some loved it, but some strongly disliked it. But that's with any game whatsoever. Example: If you were to ask me, I really didn't like FF7, although that's in contrast to most FF fans. You really have to try it out to know for yourself whether you'll like it or not. Everyone has different tastes.

I was just kinda referring to the official reviews ^^;; - I haven't seen a mixed one of those is what I meant :3
 
My advice, if your a FF fan, buy it, even if you dont like it you can use it to prop up your other FF games on the shelf. =)
