Is there any way to stop Squall from becoming far more powerful than the rest?

As I play FFVIII, Squall inevitably becomes far overlevelled compared to the rest of the party. I know I can make it so other people get the killing blows in battles, but is there another way? By the end of disc 1, Squall almost always has 10+ levels on the rest of the characters for me.

Thanks in advance

Robbie

Kept Squall KO'ed and only revive him as and when you want to level him. Only way I can think off the top of my head.

rinoa always seemed to get strionger first in my party o_O

Erm....try not junctioing anything to his strength stat that should help and make sure you have 100 junctioned to the other 2 party memebers :monster:

If you want the others to be the same level as him, either keep him KO'ed as Moonchild said, or, I'm not sure if this is in FFVIII, but in FFIX and VII (I think) you can get hit by a status effect that stops you gaining Exp, just keep Squall inflicted with that...if it's in the game.

Why your party splits up, you could spend time leveling the party that Squall is not currently in.

And like Moonchild said, keep Squall ko'ed for a long period of time.

Aye, that all sounds good. Cheers guys. ;)

By having Squall KO'd, am I right in thinking that the other two party members will be more likely to have a limit break?

There is no "real" way to stop it. Not one that isn't time consuming and/or less boring as you play through it.

Eventually, I just say screw it and convince myself that I will make Squall a god and win the game with him.

You can take all you're party until the end of the game without leveling up much, it's simple. Personally i think you should just worry about leveling up until you have all bonus skills, like streght+1, magic+1, HP+30 and so on...

Squall will actually end up being the weakest character in your party if you do that, simply because he will always be a few levels higher then the rest of the characters, which means that he will have less levels to gain extra bonus in his stats.

So if you get all you're characters to level 100 at the end of the 3rd disk, and you train them one by one with stats bonus that you get from GFs Squall will most likely end up with the lowest stats.:)

And if you really want to own anyone at FFVIII, then use Zell and his Armaggedon Fist combo which surpasses by far Squall's limit break.

At first, I was against the idea of knocking out Squall, because I wanted a great line of goose eggs in the KO'd sections on the character report, but I was a little careless against the Brothers.

So I ended up levelling a lot with Squall KO'd, and then took quite an excursion whilst on the way to the Missile Base with Selphie.

I'm not necessarily looking for a perfect 100% save, I'm just playing through it steadily, for old times sake.

Just continue levelling Squall at an early stage without junctioning any stat bonuses (str bonus, vit bonus...). By the end of the game while your other characters levels up with bonus stats squall will be the weakest. IMO:cool: By the way if you want to have 255 stats for each character (i think i didn't max out evade, luck, and speed) you should escape all your random encounters, and use card command for the unescapable ones. You would want to level up once you get cactuar, bahamut, and a rosetta stone.

well one way WITHOUT KO'ing him is to just not let him get the final blow in battles and/or rely heavily on your GFs to make equal exp across the board. I know what you mean though, he always is above the rest.

I used to feel the same then i came to the big fuck off boss battle where Squall was literlaly the last standing. I wasn't complaining when he beat the battles :P

I guess technically you'd want to keep him level with the rest of your party because you don't want him bringing up the enemies' average level that much. For example, by the time I was done getting all of the GFs in Disc 4, Squall was level 100 and everyone else was level 50-55, so I'm sure the monsters had to be in their 60s or 70s.

But, when you have Squall at level 100, you really can let him carry the rest of the party, so it doesn't matter. Whenever I get to the last battle, I just wait for one of my characters to die and for Squall to come in, because then I know it's Lion Heart time.

Man, I hated when Squall was way overleveled than others. While I was fighting Raijin, Squall was level 30 and other two were like 15-17. And because of enemies leveling as you do, Raijin killed my party members with only two hits even they had Protect on them.

Dont upgrade his weapons and dont junction as good magic to his stats... then you can keep him at whatever level of strength in comparison to your party.

This one is simple. I purposly killed Squall to make Selfie and Quistis goddesses...

LOOOOL

I say you play the game normally. Enjoy the history and everything. Because if you keep squall low level then the game won't be much of a chalenge.
Oh and you'll have some dificulties in the space area :P
