I've had Dissidia for a two or three weeks now and I like it a lot. I've already got Cloud, Squall and Tidus up to lvl 100.

The problem is that I can't seem to be able to win on Inward Chaos, Time Attack or Lunar Whale. It's like there was supposed to be a transition of gameplay that I missed. Even with my level 100 Cloud, all my opponents just keep gaining Bravery like crazy when I can barely knock off 18 at a time.

What's going on?

No those are meant to be insanely hard. Inward Chaos you are facing all Level 100 and above enemies, as is the same with the Lunar Whale course. I can't do it either :gasp: I can't even do any damage to the first enemy in Inward Chaos, and I can't even do the Invincible Course :gasp: I think what we need to do is to try and upgrade the weapons for our characters, and try to get the ultimate weapons for everyone

Could be.

Dissidia just stresses me the fuck out. It takes an insanely retarded amount of patience to stand doing anything challenging.

I think I can help out here

Yes, the enemies in Inward Chaos and the Lunar Whale course are supposed to be very hard, once you're beating Lunar Whale enemies, the Inward Chaos ones will still be very hard

These tips should help:

1) Get better equipment, theirs is a lot better than what can be gotten easily in the game
2) Switch over to manual summons if you havn't already, most manual summons can be found on a repeat play of the story in which the auto summon was found
---A manual summon retains all of the power of an auto summon, you can still use it exactly when it would have triggered otherwise, but the ability to trigger it yourself offers greater flexability, and when you know what you're doing with it, this makes a huge difference
3) Buy more accessory slots if you havn't already, make your multiplier big when you're doing things that you're good at and then equip some basics to take advantage of it
4) Learn Advanced Tactics (ATs)

ATs are all the less-than-obvious quirks to the game that you would miss unless you were specifically looking for them, this is the level of skill that you're missing

A brief overview of ATs follows, I will post some video tutorials when I get time:

1) Dodge Canceling:- For Many Characters including Zidane, Tidus, Bartz, Cecil, Cloud, Sephiroth and WoL

This affects multi-phase attacks such as Rumble Rush or Vortex, most things where at some point you have to press the attack button again to procede.
Between phases you can dodge to cancel out of the move, you can cancel that dodge into another attack, often hitting before the opponent can do anything, and thus producing a longer combo

This results in 90% of the game's infinitely long combos, but also many other shorter combos that you can take advantage of

2) Time Canceling:- For many of the above characters

This affects the same moves, instead of dodging out of an attack, you finish a phase and then simply wait for the attack to time out, in many cases this leaves you and your opponent in the perfect position for a follow on

3) Magic -> Magic Canceling:- For casters, mainly Bartz and Terra

Dodge cancel a spell, and then re-cast it, the properties of the 2nd spell may alter, or the first may inherit the properties of the second - for example Bartz can cast Holy, then Dodge Cancel, and then re-cast Holy before the first Holy has stopped. When Holy the first has hit, Bartz can press Square to trigger the second Holy's Flare

I'll post more when I get back from the bank

I was stuck with WoL at lv 100 too, but i found a perfect character; powerfull HP attacks combined with good bravery combo's: JECHT.

You may think at the beginning that he's a little lame, he doesn't have many HP attack and BRV attacks as well. But if you can master him there will open up a world for you that you didn't even see coming.

Mastering Jecht is quite hard, as it took me over 2 hours to understand his technique and powers.

IF you are trying to use Jecht which did get me through all the enemies in Inwards Chaos easily except Chaos (He's very fast and too powerfull for me either) then i would recommend you 2 things.

First; Get GOOD equipment. (Means you have to spend a lot of time on it too) like Ultima Weapon - Maximillion - Seydlitz - Super Ribbon (Don't have the super ribbon till so far)

Second; Accessoires focussed on POWER. PHYSICAL POWER. It does have a lot of difference when you have good accessoires.

Then last but not least and what i already told. UNDERSTAND his powers and fighting techniques. This character is NOT about smashing buttons but on perfect timing.

It's greatly recommended that you start and try using Jecht if you can't get any further in the game. I can beat all characters in Inwards Chaos easily with the right dodge - combo technique.

I made a video for you to show you how my gameplay is.

If someone have any tips for me i would be happy to hear them.

You seem to have the timing of his combos down, heres what I have for you:

1) You may not be aware that at the branch point of the 2nd move in each combo, you can take it in a different direction.
Using Down+Circle during the air combo will give a different attack leading to Triumphant Grasp, and using Up+Circle on the ground combo will give a different combo leading to Ultimate Jecht Shot

The other combos do ((roughly)) the same damage, the key is picking a combo to direct the enemy where you want them to be - on the ground, in a wall and so on

2) You can further extend Jecht's Combo using an EX-Cancel, during the startup of an HP attack you can enter EX mode to cancel out of it and combo straight into another chain of attacks, almost doubling your damage output

3) If you havn't already, learn to Jecht Block. Jecht is likely to end up low tier in the English version, and a big part of this is the nerfing of Jecht Block, if you misblock you get left open for a really long time.

None the less, Jecht Block is an asset to his game, giving you the ability to block many HP attacks fully, and block-getting-staggered many more, which is an option that most of the rest of the cast simply doesn't have

You're correct that Jecht is very good for stomping the AI, so for I'll give a few more tips for anyone else trying to follow your advice

When trying to learn Jecht's Combos, timing is king, there are plenty of videos on You Tube that are slowed down to show exactly where the branch points are, but I found it much easier to look for them myself

When Jecht performs a move, at any point where he can branch into another combo, a blurry red circle will appear (quite hard to see on the 2nd moves in each), if you press the button at exactly that point when you perform the move, you will branch into the next part of the combo

Against a human opponent, Jecht isn't nearly as potant, and this is because he is predictable, he has very few options (1 on the ground and 1 in the air) to open up his combo tree, and neither of them are particularly fast, or difficult to block/dodge

In this way, Jecht is Very-High-Risk/Very-High-Reward, landing moves is very very difficult against humans, and when you miss you usually get punished hard, but you only have to land a few moves to win

The best way to play Jecht is in a predominantly punishment based style, where you move as such to lure or force the opponent into creating openings, and attack-to-hit only when these openings present themselves. Being able to block and dodge properly is key

Despite the fact that his Brave-Combos have a vastly higher reward, you cannot use them to the exclusion of his HP attacks on their own, this is simply because they cause Jecht to attack in different directions and at different speeds, there will be tmes when your HP attacks will be able to connect but your Brave attacks will not

I just finished playing a few quick matches and I think I'm actually getting worse. Damn, is there a way to just get better at playing the game? Like training, except you're not trying to gain levels, you're just trying to play the game better.

I've also got Cecil and Firion onto level 100. I'm still trying to use Cloud as my main man.

I'm working on Seydlitz. I've got Ultima weapon and Maximillian. The key is really to have atk and def stat boosting items. What does grand helm/super ribbon do? I use Bartz. I just spam flood (mainly flood) and holy-flare as well as wind shear and paladin force against a real toughie. I'm working on getting force begets courage to help me on making it work. What does acc. multipliers actually do? ALso, you can have 2 hyper rings and what's strength orb's effect?

Heh, lots of questions

Calze6 - Nice to see another Bartz mainer, we're an exclusive club

Flood is actually kinda meh, it was very powerful in the Japanese version but its very easy to dodge now, Bartz's HP game overall is very poor in Eng

The best way to use Flood is to wait for a slow HP attack (Trine, Straight Arrow, Meteorain, and so on) and use it in response to that, Flood will come out faster and you'll land the hit

Bartz has several key moves, the most powerful is Holy. Holy->Dodge Cancel->Holy->Flare is very potant, but you can't just spam it out because the opponent will simply block.

If you want to really make this hurt you have to use it when the opponent would expect an HP attack, they'll try to dodge but this doesn't work against Holy, use it to punish mistakes

Reel Impulse is similarly potant, because with the right use of cancels you can combo it to many things, including Soul Eater, however it is quite a laggy attack and should be used with caution

Speed++ is a big asset for Bartz because you can position yourself for Reel Axe that much quicker, with enough practice you'll be able to get the axe through the gap between Garland's tornados, and be able to grab the Emperor out from behind a Flare

Solid Ascension is also quite powerful, not because you'll ever use it, but because it gives Bartz a minor Counterattack affect, if you equip the proper Counterattack skill at the same time then then the 2 will stack up and you'll get damn near a 100% critical rate on Counterattack. This means that any mistake you punish will hurt a whole lot harder

Goblin Punch is your friend, its quick and it goes through nearly everything, abuse it

Accessory Multipliers multiply the affect of Basic Accessories, these are the ones at the top of your list, above the multipliers

Example:
Gaia Ring gives +15% damage
You equip a level based multiplier that gives 1.2x
15x1.2 = 18
so Gaia Ring now gives you +18% damage

Remember that it only works for accessories marked as Basic, if it doesn't say Basic Accessory in its description then your multiplier won't affect it

SephirothAlpha: You Tube

Seriously, most of the ATs (Advanced Tactics) probably aren't meant to work, I think the help menus mention Dodge Cancelling once somewhere, but not in the context that we use it in

When finding Advanced Tactics on You Tube, remember that a lot of stuff that worked in the Japanese Version doesn't work anymore, that if its not being performed against Tidus then theres no garuntee that it won't be evadable by some characters (mostly Tidus) and that if the CPU isn't level 9 then theres no garuntee that it'll work on any human players at all

I'm going to go ahead and guess that you play Sephiroth

Heres some combos (remember, not garunteed against every characters):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=GB&hl=en-GB&v=zocj9b-LWyA

Also know that Hell's Gate is in that exclusive club of moves that actually reflects the Emperor's Flare

If anyone wants to shout out any other characters, then I'll see what I can dig up

Sorry for the delay, I was testing Climhazzard -> Slashing Blow to see if it still works

Cloud is like Jecht in that he is a High Risk/High Reward character, only he is more versitile and not quite as potant

Cloud is best played as a mid-range character, you should equip Climhazzard, Slashing Blow, Meteorain, Braver and OmniSlash Version 5 as a core move set, whatever else you want is optional

As I mentioned above, Climhazzard -> Slashing Blow -> Omnislash Version 5

you need to dodge out of Climhazzard over the opponent during the rise up and then use Slashing Blow

If you don't have Omnislash V5, master Slashing Blow

I'm also assured that you can dodge cancel out of Double Cut and into Slashing Blow as well

as for what else you take, the options work as follows:

1. Fire:

Theres potential to use as a lesser version of Emperor's mines, combos into all of Cloud's other attacks

2. Firaga:

Use it like a shotgun, close range, fast startup, does a lot of damage if all 3 balls hit, drop them off of ledges if the opponent is below

3. Double Cut:

This is Cloud's fastest attack, and as stated above combos into Slashing Blow for Omnislash V5

4. Aerial Fang:

Can be used to punish moves by opponents below the usual range of Slashing Blow

5. Sonic Break:

Greater range than Double Cut, less risky than Climhazzard, when mastered will chain directly to Finishing Touch for HP damage

6. Rising Fang:

Has potential against opponents that like to be directly above you, up to you whether this is worth it against whoever you're fighting

Sephiroth is actually my third choice character, Onion knight and Cloud are before him.
