probably to save time making a new personality and appearance when you can just swap around a few bits from other characters to make a new one

yeah some of them have simailar looks costumes or hairdues but try and make their looks their own. and they seem to in ways have either similar or opposite personalities.

Because not everyone is unique. There are many people and characters in books, real life, movies, games that are like previous characters. Have you ever said to a person they reminded you of someone?

Whats wrong with using the same character personality if the first was successful? Makes money.

Ah well that's true, but I tend to think that there are so many different personality types out there that it gets quite hard to run out of ideas just yet.
But then again, it's also hard to make them up.

Yeah, of course, there are similarities in the characters, but it's usually just some small part of another character, as obviously, they are not totally alike. Well, I guess that's how I'll conclude my statement.

Yeah, anyone really can.

I suppose if you really wanna sit and analyze them all, you can pretty much draw a ton of similarities between the characters, but you can also find several of the same similarities by comparing FF with non-FF characters.
