Is DLC region-based?

I'm very, very...VERY tempted to buy the Premium Edition of Tactics Ogre that the UK is getting. However I heard that the game will also get DLC (or at least, Japan got some).

I live in Canada with a Canadian/North American PSN account. Would I be able to use any future DLC for the game if I buy it from the UK? My understanding is that UMDs themselves are region free, but I don't wanna take a chance on being mistaken.

Will I actually have to make a UK account then? Is is actually possible to have different region accounts? D=

Truthfully, I don't care that much about DLC, but if I can't download free stuff because I have an incorrect region format, that would suck :/

Playstation Store DLC is indeed region-locked. I was going to get the U.S. Trinity Universe DLC before I found this out.

But you can make alternate accounts if you want to download the stuff - I have two PSN accounts registered to the U.S. store. Just enter a UK-based location/postcode and it'll accept it ♥

I'm not sure if you can fund it from your card, though...at least, it didn't work when I tried it. I ended up buying some PSN points online and getting a code sent to me via e-mail.

I don't know if it's different formating for each game or whatever, but I imagine it will work. I have a North American account and Kira has everything EU based (obviously). Yet even when I downloaded my NA Uncharted 2 DLC it worked. The disc and PS3 were both EU though, so I'm not sure if that's also a deciding factor.

I guess I could risk it. At worst I'd have to make a UK PSN account. If it's possible, then it's all good

If there are going to be any issues it's going to be with the actual UMD rather than the store. The store itself isn't region locked since I've downloaded stuff off of both the Japanese and North American PSN stores. However, when I downloaded DLC for FIFA10 last year it had a little note saying it was only compatible with the number on the side of the case so if you had a different number on the case then the DLC wouldn't work.

I'm not sure if it's for all games though.
