Is anybody into Dragon Quest?

Hello. Yesterday I decided to do some research on the infamous Enix Franchise, Dragon Quest/warrior. The reviews for those games really hyped me up for the games. Now I downloaded Dragon Quest 7 for the psp and I wonder if any of you guys played this game. I would like to know what kind of RPG I am looking at. Does it have an interesting story? Is it worth investing your time? If the story is good I would like relative comparations with some famous Final Fantasies for example. As good as FF6/7 story or a little worse but still decent.. Something like that so I get the idea.

If the game surprises me Ill definately import Dragon Quest 8 for the ps2 . Anyway thanks for anything in advance.

Well DQ7 without giving away too much of the storyline...

Your Island is the only island in the whole world, and it is pretty safe, no monsters anywhere, one day you and your best friend discover a shard that slowly changes your life and the past, to help save the world.

Anyways DQ games stay very classic to the RPG genra, it is all TB not ATB regular TB, you decide what all your party members are going do, then it lets everyone attack.

I would say DQVII is a good RPG, not a great one, but has a pretty decent story line, just very little character development in the game... granted these games the main character doesn't talk...

The only real side quest in this game is the casino, you go and gamble and win or lose tokens... very basic.

I would say you could beat this game in... 20-30 hours... rushing it a little but can be done

DQVIII I would say is far better RPG. It is the same type of battle system, only you get more side quest, a lot longer story line, and actual character development.

What??? 20-30hours. In the reviews (ign,gamespot,rpgamer) they say the game takes between 75-95 hours to complete . Im confused now xD

Really? maybe I missed some things.... Then again I don't remember how long it took me the first time I played it maybe it was a long time... and I just started to know where everything was by the third time... I have played this game so many times....

Perhaps you are talking about DQ8 for the PS2 and not DQ7 for PS1. Nevertheless I still have a few games that I must complete first before dwelving into these series.

I've never played VII, but even if it dissapoints you, I highly recommend picking up VIII anyways. It's truly a fantastic game. Creative and playful, but intuitive and enjoyable.

I spent days on VIII, absolutely hooked.
