Square Enix promised a quick release for the iPhone versions of Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II. They weren't joking. Both titles hit the App Store today, priced at ¥1,000 each, or £5.49/$8.99 depending where you live.

These versions of FFI and FFII feature the updated visuals and added content of previously released remakes. Additionally, Square Enix has created an iPhone specific interface designed to make the game easier to play with touch controls.

The enhancements look pretty good compared to what they looked like on the psone. Just like the PSP games from the PS store, I'm sure they'll sell reasonably well!

If this sells well somehow (seeing as though this is the umpteenth time these last two games are re-released - I can't imagine many existing FF fans will flock for them), I can somehow see SE releasing later FF games for download up to FFVI. That sounds feasible actually. :hmmm:

Talk about detailed, i don't remember ever seeing that much detail on the GBA version of either games. If i had an iPhone, i would get both but i'm fine with the phone i have. That and i can just get them for psp :wacky:

Wow, nice detailed images. Not bad for a phone's graphics. All the more reason to get a damn iPhone lol!

At last finally got my hands on both Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II yesterday for the Ipod Touch. If you have played any iphone / touch games before then you will know what to expect with the touch controls. The extra dungeons are also included. You get your money's worth in my opinion.

Nice graphics, though I'm not fond of iPhones and other expensive things. This is a nice app for FF fans/iPhone owners, but I didn't feel too excited about it. Maybe it's because I played those two games a lot (and will probably continue to do so :D)

Just checked it out and I am impressed with the graphics I have to say. £5.49 is a bit steep though, I might leave it a while and see if it drops at all because ideally I don't want to be spending that much.

I thought I'd be satisfied playing my FF Origins game with FFI and FFII on the same disc, but damn - those graphics really do kick the SNES port's ass o_O
