Ipad 1 + 2

As most of you know, Apple releases a new Ipad every year thus far. Most people were very skeptical when the Ipad 1 came. The numbers were there, somewhere around 15 million in the first few months, but people were asking what the difference between it and a Iphone were. When people started to use it though, their perception immediately changed due to the easy nature of the touch screen and the onboard keyboard in which simulated real keys. Why not buy a computer? Well it's not likely that you would run across a $500.00 macbook with as many apps and such that this already has. The free applications are the breadwinner in the new Mobile Application generation. From being able to read kindle books for free (well if you buy the book), to being able to play any of the highly addictive games, it has dwarfed any other tablet out there. The social networking apps were a major thing as well. With 3g capability people could start using free apps such as google map plugins in which had built in GPS. I can't tell you the amount of times this has helped us get out of sticky situations in the big cities such as Atlanta.

When Ipad 2 came out, it sped up the processing and put a built in camera as well.

This video sort of clarified the differences between the Ipad 1 and Ipad 2:

Ipad 3

First Feature: 4G Network

If you do not have the ipad2 or have the Ipad, I believe an upgrade/buying would be optimal for you.

The camera is pretty phenomenal in what it can pick up. Less pixelated and more resolution. Overall the screen itself is better on the quality.

It's about the same speed as the Ipad2, but has a built in voice recognition in which let's you text speak. It is pretty spot on with your speech. So just imagine writing a post/thread out by just saying what you think.

My thread feature today will be from macworld.com:

Hope you enjoy!

Thanks for the info, Tyler. My mom bought an iPad2 (16 GB) for $400 about two weeks ago, a week before the 3rd generation came out. She was debating whether to go for the iPad3, but seeing as she doesn't have a clue how apps work or what they are (I had to explain, much to my dismay)...I just told her to go for the iPad2 for now. My annoyance with the whole thing is that she has absolutely no idea how it works yet she's willing to dish out money carelessly just because the guy at Best Buy was telling her to buy the iPad 3 instead. If it were up to me, sure I would've gone for the iPad 3. But her gullible nature in regards to technology worries me as people can take advantage of it. For instance, the same guy was telling her she should buy all these accessories and she looked at me wondering if she should. I told her we can get a better deal through Amazon, especially since I was still a Prime member due to the Kindle Fire deal.

But anyway, her only interest is mainly FB, camera, and video chat (Skype) anyway, though the app for maps would also help her since she takes the bus everywhere and needs direction. (Definitely makes me happy since now I don't have to receive calls from her asking me what bus route to take from here to there, etc. Giving directions via phone is a pain in the ass.)

The retina display for iPad 3 is nice, but I honestly don't think she'd care. Camera has improved. I tested the iPad 2 and while it's nice, it is often somewhat grainy even in bright conditions.

I have to say, watching my mom stare at her iPad 2 and ignore all the other apps makes me cringe a little. It's as if she bought a brand new PS3 just to watch Netflix but has no plans to play any games at all. :gonk:She's learning though, very slowly. I think she's somewhat afraid to click on the other apps or browse through the App Store to see if there's anything that might interest her.

She might trade it in for the iPad 3 next year. :hmmm: I think that's her plan anyway. Before she got the iPad 2, she bought the Android tablet (Acer A200) for a little less than $300. I actually liked that too. Camera wasn't as good as the iPad 2 though and that's mainly why she traded it in for iPad 2.
