How good are you at coming up with suitable replacements when the real deal isn't available? Say you've lost or broken a key element to something you use frequently. Do you makeshift a one or buy a new one? What's your solution?

Typically I buy new things if I've lost or broken the parts I need. However, the other weekend I was throwing a Rock Band 2 party at my house and I'd lost the drumsticks I needed. I wasn't about to go out and buy a new set so I improvised. Two plastic ladles were able to fill the position almost as well as the drumsticks themselves did.

Well I'm having a Fancy Dress party soon for my best friends 21st and I really didn't want to spend $200+ on this outfit I had my eye on. =/

I'm going as a Greek Goddess.

So I decided to improvise with what items I had lying around my wardrobe. I found matching gold gladiator shoes and belt. All I had to do was buy a cheap dress and halo thingy >_<. My total spending came to around $50.

I took a little extra time and I saved over half what the original cost was. >_<

I must say my creation was a lot prettier =P
