Hey guys. I am still on my marathon trek through the FF series and am nearing completing VI. As I start to think about VII, I am reminded of an article that I read (can't remember where for the life of me) that interviewed on of the people on the development team for VII that asserted that the events in VII were supposed to take place over approximately a month. I think VII took me roughly 50 hours to play through, which of course is just over two days. Then I got to thinking: What about all of the cut scenes that indicate the passage of a night, all the times I stayed in inns or used tents (forced or voluntary) and saved. My proposal is this: For every cut scene that indicates the passage from night to day (other than those in flashbacks) I will add eight hours to my play time. For every time I use an inn or a tent (forced or voluntary) I will add eight hours, and I will see how close I get to one month of game time. I did the math, and a month (counted as 31 days) would equal 744 hours.

I need input as to whether I should add time every time I save the game, and if so how much time? My goal will be to end at 744 hours, or as close to it as possible.

Very interesting, I never thought of this. Anyway I do think that you should add like 8 hours everytime you rest at an inn but not when you save because when you save, it doesn't really count as 8 hours.

In game time axis and temporal zones are'nt in real time, I remember something like FF10 taking place over 10 days but it sure didnt take me 240 hours to complete besides FF games are'nt really geared towards a Day/Night cycle like those in GTA but if find a cycle that works for you feel free to use it and dont ber afraid to experiment Damcyan

Those are good thoughts Galaxy, and I never knew that about FFX. Damn interesting too...they covered a lot of ground in 10 days. I will keep you guys posted

I just started playing again after having not for like .. a year. And I began to notice this too in places like Gold Saucer and when we're on the ship. If the map is supposed to be the size of the world, wouldn't a crossing like that take a few weeks?
Also, when Tifa gets knocked to the ground of the airship after Cloud summons Meteor, Barret says that she's asleep for seven days.
I guess you should count the forced inn stops, but not the chosen ones. You could go to an inn to get your MP and HP back, but you could also very well use a potion and an ether, which would not take the equivalent of an eight hour sleep.

But I'd certainly be interested in the time that you come up with at the end of your calculations. :) :)
