Imagining a person looks like their avi

I do this all the time I've realized. I make a very strong association between a member and their avatars. For example, just now I was looking through peoples pics in the picture thread and caught myself thinking thats not what they look like.

I think a lot of people do this. How else can one explain the fact that people think I'm a girl when I am not? It's cause of my avi
 
Hmm, yeah I do that too. ^_^ Guilty. There's people whom I'll think are guys when they're really girls, and vice versa. I don't know, I guess the avatars really makes quite an impact on a member. But then again, I knew you weren't really a girl because you obviously made your sex known.

EDIT: Oh and yes, the names will throw me off too, especially if they don't make their sex known.
 
I feel famous - someone mentioned me in a thread - but in a good non-LTD way :O

and i think i only picture a few peoples faces from their avatar - Darkblade, Rydia, Aztec, and sorceressedea7. - so if i saw a picture of any of them id be like no way! except Edea but i have her myspace so :P

plus i use the Aeris name and avatar to confuse you people - its a phycology game - and its oh so fun to play :lol:

hasn't happened to me int his forum. I think its cause of the little gender symbol by my name and that I've stated it a few times now. But in other forums I've been thought a female.

I usually have some female character in my avi or sigs, so yea.

And yea, names are a big one too. If someone is named Lulu, I will think you are a girl so don't be upset when I think that
 
and for the record i put the comment under the jean sig so people would get the final hint XD

Yes Jean grey is hot, yes she does have sexy legs - get over it people XD

I have pictures in the member picture thread... lol That's how I figured out you were a guy, Aeris. lol Although, to me, saying that still sounds weird. It keeps giving me mental images of a gay Cloud who is in love with a hermaphroditic Aeris... and then my avatar is Cloud... it just freaks me out. haha

If you dumped a bucket of water on Cloud's hair and he sat around and gained 100 pounds, you'd probably have someone closely resembling me. So I'm like the fat unstylized version of Cloud... with a very different kind of attitude, I guess?

What the hell am I even talking about... I've become a ditz. Shoot me. lol

or in Flames at the end of X-2 *gif* as the only ones except that that i can find with her fabulous legs have logan on them - which is unacceptable XD

The Cleris sig never changes though - its my symbol XD

infact that gives me and idea.....check out the spam colloseum in 3 minutes.

I picture few people by avatars. Mainly by username. Or if I know what they look like, I won't be fooled. Like I know what several of you look like.*not a stalker*

Anyway, names= yes, avatars = no
 
i guess i kinda did go off topic XD

some of you if you have an avatar which isnt humanoid in anyway i imagine various things about the person based on their avatar - dragon mage for example - her avatar makes me think that she has long black hair and a pale white face - no offense dragon its just i can see you lurking at the bottem and decided to use you as an example :P
 
BTW Aztec, that just makes you an american style Cloud :)
And damn is that sig kinda annoying

Yea, I guess when you have a healthy active pictures thread, its not so much a problem.

Yeah, I tend to associate people with their avs. I rarely even look at the names, just out of the corner of my eye I can see the avatar and can usually relate it to who it is, if I've been around long enough (maybe not here)
 
....lol, I wasnt talking about your sig Aztec. I was talking about Gainsborough's sig which was giving me an epileptic seizure

And yea, its the periph that puts the avi in your head
