Im confused

I don't have any of the third gen consoles, but I already know that the PS3 is the best of three. The Wii is following Nintendo's usual gimicky trend, without actually producing great games that make it a must have. The only draw for an XBox 360, just like the first, is Halo (and possibly Gears of War). While the PS3 has Assasin's Creed, FFXIII, Heavenly Sword and all of its usual classic titles (Tekken, Gran Turismo etc.)

The PS3 will eventually get good but its not at the moment.

The Wii is good for multiplayer, for one player games it is pretty poor.

Assasins creed is not ps3 exclusive.

Also you forgot to mention the 360 has MASS EFFECT and Bioshock.

You were just caught posting BS.

I don't know anything about Wii, but I'll go ahead and say that PS3 is probably better. But don't buy it just now. I honestly think there's not enough good games out yet. Perhaps wait another year. Like Ultimadream, I'll be getting mine next year as well...

Same. It's also too expensive at the moment to be really a feasible buy. I would say it's the best of the 3 third-gen considering there's a ton of great games on the way or in the development and who knows what else...like sleeper games that you wouldn't would be great but then turns out to be the next great hit.

I'm getting mine hopefully next year when I get a job and I'm in college.

Just a quick note here, not only is Assassin's Creed for both PS3 and the 360... but for some reason it's suppose to run better on the 360. Something about the style or engine used was more ideal for the 360. I'm not really sure. I didn't understand the whole thing but somehow, even though the PS3 is much stronger, it's suppose to run better and look better on the 360. Go figure.

The only console I don't have is a PS3....and that's mainly because it's too expensive right now in UK. When MGS4 comes out, THEN I'll buy one but not before. The downside for the PS3 (and I had the same problem with 360 early on) is that to play PS2 games, I'd need to download a patch/emulator to enable it to play. 360 has the same problem but because it's been out over a year, more games are available for playing now. As for Wii.....it's got no problem with playing Gamecube games. Hell, I actually stopped playing Zelda Twilight Princess just so I could play some old Gamecube games like Metroid Prime and Tales of Symphonia.

I really don't like how people always say Playstation is better than xbox. First off.....Sony has had THREE consoles whereas Microsoft has only had TWO. Of course people will have played more of Sony's games. And as for Wii failing? I highly doubt that. Sure, some people may not like the control methods using the motion sensing but it bloody works. Of coruse the Wii isn't as good as either PS3 or 360 in terms of power but it doesn't NEED to be more powerful to be fun. And that's what the Wii is made for...FUN. However, I'm sure that in the future more games for Wii will be aimed more at more of us serious gamers. It all comes down to choice of games. I will buy all of them just as I did when I bought original xbox, PS2 and Gamecube.

I do not know about how good or not good PS3 is ....do not have one and do not fancy splashing all that money just yet...., besides I have plenty of games to play now without adding PS3 tp the pile.

Wii is worth every penny....and I do not think that single player sucks on it at all...when it comes to multiplayer that is true is great addition in deed. I think that is a good thing, for it gives a nice change when you have company around to do something fun instead just sitting around your living room and just watch telly or most of the time lets face it - do nothing. But let's face it that is why Wii is really for fun....and it delivers when it comes to it.

360 - I play when I go to Val's (above) place, and that is as far that my relationship with 360 will go :D...I have no interest to pay all that money for a consol when I am only inetrested in 4 bleeding games.

Val, yes I get you...not that I am saying 360 is better or worse then Sony or vice versa, but the fact how many consoles one company have makes a great inpact on buyers, ....unfortunatelly it comes down to simple preferences and choices and let's not forget finances too. Just because people play more games for playstation does not makes it better then 360, that is true, but it does makes people more familiar with Sony and their products. Beside even with including PS3 no matter how much money it costs right now, Sony in the long term as an investment pays off....and so is Nintedo.... My statement above is a simple proof...I am never gonna buy a consol over 4 games, as I am not insane or that deperate...but I will buy PS3 because I am aware that in the long run PS3 pays off and will deliver. Sorry....and this is lets face it Microsofts problem.

Actually if we stick to that rule,..then Nintendo is the best :D..my god they have a whole arsenal to offer there :D

Actually, you're righ Lor....Nintendo ARE the best. They've been around since the start of consoles (NES) and hell, they beat their first rival Sega.

I just have to say that the majority of games developers are from Japan (hell, Nintendo AND Sony are Japanese) so most of their sales are from their own country. It's a shame that the original xbox never sold as many units as it deserved in Japan as it was the superior console at the time. it could be the same way for 360 as well which is why Blue Dragon was made, so it would appeal to the Japanese market and boost sales.

I'm not saying I prefer any console over another, I just prefer games above all else. If a game plays better on a different console, then I prefer it on that console.

As I said, I'll buy a PS3 when MGS4 is released, but I'm not buying it just for that game....far from it. I'll be buying it because I KNOW there's going to be games I'll want to play that is either exclusive to PS3 or plays better on PS3. Reason I bought an N64 was for Star Wars Rogue Squadron but my favourite game is Zelda Ocarina of Time. Like I said, it all comes down to what games you prefer and what consoles they're available on. Same thing goes for all these "DS or PSP" topics. I have both and like them both BECAUSE of the games...not the machines.

i certainly wouldn't spend the money on any of the 3 systems but the ps3. MAYBE the 360, cause its got good games out right now. but in the long run i think the smart move would be the ps3. FFXIII, a potential FFVII remake, and many other good upcoming games are my main reasoning.

First off.....there's never gonna be a FFVII remake. The video that was made was just that....a video. It was made to show what the PS3 was capable of. However, FFXIII will definetly be great. To say that 360 will not have great games in the future is a little biased. What about games like Mass Effect, Fable 2 or Project Gotham racing 4? Hell, even Ace Combat 6, originally a PlayStation series is for 360 only as far as I know. Most games will be multiplatform however. At the moment, 360 is better only because it's cheaper and many people don't have lots of money to spend....buying a Wii in UK is less than half the price for a PS3 and a 360 is £100 less than a PS3. And you only mentioned one valid FF game. What about the other PS3 games....most obviously MGS4 and MGS Online?

well it all depends on yourself ,what kinda games u like and the genre...
Wii games are sweet and mostly uses anime characters ....
But Ps3 uses Ps experience of game making...so the games are versatility....

If FFVII gets a remake on PS3 I'll jump of the bridge...my god think the world had enough of FFVII and all the bleeding spin offs from it....

Well....360 is still not cheep enough....at least not in my books Val....for I am not gonna be running splashing £300 on 360, damn it, my NEW WASHING MACHINE WAS CHEEPER.....oh wait.,..I do not need to...you have one, just gonna abuse your one :sneaky:

As Undimon points out and as I said before it is in the end a personal choice...when it comes to games or consoles - > what you like to spend your money on and what would you rather like to play :D,

sorry bud, forgot you were a square-enix executive. they actually said in an interview that it was definitely a possibility.

Well, I'm fed up with everyone thinking that Square Enix will make a remake just because of the demo footage they made to showcase PS3s abilities. And as for them saying they might make a FFVII for PS3....well, it's a very diplomatic answer to the large amount of fans who CRAVE a remake. I doubt it'll ever see the light of day but they could decide to make it eventually.....though the time and effort would be a waste in my opinion. Why spend years updating an old game when they can make new, more refreshing games. As much as I like FFVII, I'm getting sick of seeing Cloud and Sephiroth in games other than FFVII. I'd much rather have a FFXIV/KH3 rather than a prettier version of a game I played several times before several years ago. But that's just MY opinion as I'm not one of these crazy fans that think Square's best game is only FFVII.

but this thread is soppoused to be about what is better to buy.....consol regards...not about posibble remake of FFVII...

though on that note unfortunatelly I can see that happening...

The PS3 has one important thing that i dont think the others have...... Staying power, it has so much better and usefull features that are compatible and will be able to keep up with other technological advances and as Sony releases bigger and better editions, there will only be more demand.
I feel the Wii like other Nintendo products is to gimicky, after a while i think it will lose it's 'flavor', sure it is awesome now and pretty fun (so was Monopoly though when it came out), but I think people will eventually say 'oh you have that thing?.... meh'.
The 360 seems like it will just flat out get beat by the PS3 as it.... to me...... seems like it will be seen as 'old' far before the PS3.
you do realize that shelling out 'all that money' is buying you a Blu ray 1080p player as well?

Oh, I realise you're paying for blu ray but it's still too much for my liking. As for Sony being able to bring out better things...look how the "new" portable disc player went. The Minidisc was considered a flop. Then we have the PSPs movie discs (UMD) which were also considered a flop. I'm not against Sony at all as I think they've made some great consoles but every company has SOME mistakes. I think I recall hearing that they lost millions due to faulty batteries in laptops as well. As good as Blu Ray is...it's much more expensive to produce than standard DVDs. Sure, you get the added bonus of space but at the cost of, well...cost.

And to say Nintendo will "lose it's flavour" is not fair. Nintendo's "gimicky" style has managed to sell millions of DS/DS Lites as has sold close to 50 million so far with the Wii selling just over 10 million so far. Although I can't find a rough idea of PSPs sales, the PS3 has sold close to 4.5 million as of yet. Xbox 360 has sold close to 12 million, but then because it was available nearly a whole year before the others, that's understandable. But my point is that you say the Wii and 360 are going to be beaten by the PS3......unless you can see the future I'm going to say it's a three horse race. As for myself, I'll buy all three (I just need a PS3 now) and enjoy them all. That's what they're made for....enjoyment.

hey...nothing wrong with Monopoly :D....good old fashioned fun... :D

lol :D

Wii is made for multiplayer and as such I agree with Val, I do not think it will ever loose its apeal...and for family fun it is a perfect tool :D
