FF Music I want to take partial FF music requests

Story is, not too long ago I bought a Final Fantasy piano collections book. Its essentially a book of the best piano collection pieces from 7 to 10-2. The thing is, I can't decide which ones to learn, so I thought I would ask you folk here which ones I should learn first.
I intend on popping them online, most likely on youtube so you lot can see if you wish and give any criticisms! : )
So, the ones in the book are: (With * at ones I know already)

I just can't decide what to actually learn and it would be a help if people that actually knew the pieces could give me an idea what to play : )
 
I would say Zanarkand, but it seems like it would be pretty hard, compared to others....
 
no, the FFX one.

I haven't played the FFX-2 one so I dont know what it sounds like.

I mean, if you're looking for something that's not too hard I would say to learn something from an earlier FF like You're Not Alone cence the melody is probably more prominently in the treble clef staff, and more repetitive.

but if you dont care if its hard I would say to learn FFX Zanarkand just because I like it and its probably one of my favorite pieces in FF, but that's just my preference...

yeah its kind of slow pace, its not all fast or anything, but the bass clef has more of its own melody, so that makes it seem like its kind of hard :/
 
I'd say you should learn The Place I'll Return To Someday, or anything from the FFIX soundtrack. The FFIX soundtrack is superb in my opinion, and The Place I'll Return To Someday is a really great track.

They're all great tracks though, so good luck with whatever piece you attempt first.
 
YAY! finally a fellow Final Fantasy Piano Collections player. For me, I only play Final Fantasy Piano Collections, and know how to play lots of them. But I am not that good.

It's hard to recommend for a few reasons. First, which game is your favourite? Which track is your favourite? How good are you in playing the piano?

Well anyways, assuming that you can play songs like Aerith's theme (which is difficult as there's this insane arpeggio in treble clef while triplets on bass clef near the end), means that you are very good. I know how to play the song, but due to lack of practice, I have forgotten how to play the tougher 2nd part :P

Also assuming that the ones you listed are your favourite melodies, then I will just give you brief info on the difficulty, etc. (note that I am assuming that you are an intermediate level piano player when recommending these to you. I apologize if you are a pro.)

-Tifa's theme - First part is relatively very easy. Second part with all the accidents and triplets may need practice.

- Main theme - very easy if you are familiar with the 4 sharps key (can't remember what's the key's name :P). Anyway, it changes to a 1 sharp key later on. The second part is slightly easier, especially if you are familiar with triplets. BUT you may need very long hands for the chords and broken chords.

- Ahead on our way - I think it has similar difficulty as main theme. Not sure because I haven't actually practiced it yet. But it's worth it as it's such a lovely and soothing song. Its key is kind of reverse of the main theme. Starts of with 1 sharp, changes to 4 sharps and then back to 1 sharp.

- those who fight. I assume that you are an advanced piano player to even considering to learn this piece. It's epic, but it's very challenging. One of the hardest in all the collections. If you are good, it's worth to learn. But I heard some people complain about giving up practicing in the middle. About the piece, you need long hands I suppose. And careful timing.

-eyes on me - Easy too. You may need long hands. There are many chords.

-fisherman's horizon - it's tough at the 2nd page's last 2 bars. There are triplets and accidents (similar pattern like in Tifa's theme, but slightly harder). But I managed to practice it through. Nevertheless, this soothing song is worth it to learn.

-Ami - It's relatively easy. Slightly harder than eyes on me. There's a surprise key change to C major that makes everything so simple and yet still lovely :D This song is the one that motivates me to learn piano a year ago. It has a great meaning for me personally.

-Find you way - at first sight, it looks so difficult. With countless sextuplets and a very challenging arpeggio later on. Changes keys a lot of times. May be difficult for intermediate players. BUT it's actually easy if you have the patience to learn. I am still practicing it. It's kinda fun to play, especially the repetitive sextuplets.

-To Zanarkand. It is NOT difficult. It's in fact one of the easiest (minus the insane arpeggio near the end). But I guess you learnt this already.

-Eternal Harvest - tough. Slightly easier than those who fight. Loaded with triplets. Need lots of practice. But I suppose it's a fun piece to play. so quite worth it.

-the place I'll return - moderate difficulty. Haven't tried it yet, but I guess your timing must be accurate because the piece is quite jumpy (can't find the right word, sorry :P). It evolved into a kind cheery staccato piece in the middle, which I don't really like (I don't like staccato pieces).

-melodies of life - easy if you are good with 4 sharps, like main theme of FFVII. But the piece is quite fast at some parts, so you may need some practice. But otherwise, it's such a lovely piece that you shouldn't miss learning (though I did :P)

-loss of me - very easy for the first part. It gets tougher at 2nd and 3rd page with all those fast paced chords. But I love the trills at the end. You may need some practice for 2nd part.

-you are not alone - What I don't like of this piece is the staccato... But otherwise, there are lots of low notes and the chorus is so epic. You need long hands for it though.

-Suteki da ne - it's moderately easy if you are familiar with triplets. It can get very tricky trying to coordinate both of your hands. But it's worth the practice for this bittersweet piece. I am still practicing too (I know... I love to practice many songs at the same time:P)

- 1000 words - kind of different from the original, especially the addition of high notes at the beginning and middle. You need long hands. But otherwise some parts are so easy that you can even sight read them at first try. Lots of banging of low notes during the chorus.

for the rest, I am sorry I am not familiar with them as of yet.

Final stand (in my opinion)
IF you are a beginner, try Tifa's theme
IF you are so-so, try Fisherman's Horizon
IF you are advanced, try those who fight (people will be impressed as this piece is relatively very challenging)

IF you like FFVII, try Tifa's theme
IF you like FFVIII, try Fisherman's horizon
If you like FFIX, try melodies of life
IF you like FFX, try to zanarkand
 
Hey I am self-taught too :D It was actually final fantasy music that motivated me to learn the piano about a year ago. Like you, I can play grade 5/6 pieces. Yeah it's sometimes embarrassing when people finds out that you only play FF songs. I played Ami Piano Collections during a school concert (my very first official concert) and it goes quite well.

Anyways, good luck with learning and practicing the songs :) just remember, my suggestions are subjective to my opinion. So just play what you feel is the most suitable for yourself while keeping in mind on my suggestions.
