What do you want to know more about in regards to FFVIII? Just write about it here, and maybe someone can give you some input!

I for one have heard a lot of Laguna fans say that it would be so fun to have a "prequel" involving Laguna's adventures as a soldier. Well, I think it would be fun too...I think that the pre-game events are too far overlooked; there's actually a lot going on in FFVIII!

One thing that I want to know more and more about is Lunatic Pandora.
Well...there are a lot of things in the game that I wished there were more of...for instance...more of sorceress Adel (which maybe could have been sequenced in with the Laguna dream state).

I want to know more about the "Cetra", the race that was wiped out by the previous Lunar Cry!

I want to know more about what happened AFTER the final FMV. What happened with Rinoa's powers, who took over things in Galbadia, What happened when ultimecia was born? they may have stopped her in the future, but that does not prevent her from being born or growing up in a world that knows her name and hates her. What happened after?

I kinda thought the Laguna scene WAS the prequel to FFVIII, telling the back story for Squall and the rest?

I'm interested in knowing more about Adel as well; Rinoa said that she saw the "young Adel" after you defeat her at the beginning of Disc 4, and that could probably tie in with Lunatic Pandora if it could be known.

I'm a little curious about knowing more on Laguna and Raine; the two obviously got married at some point and
Raine gave birth to Squall at some point when Laguna wasn't there, but I always wondered when Laguna found out when he had a son
and how and why Raine died.

Maybe a little more on when Seifer, Squall, Quistis, Zell, Irvine and Selphie were at the orphan edge. Particularly on the time when Seifer and Squall got into Balamb (I think it's implied they were the first ones enrolled compared to the other four).

Well actually...in regards to Laguna and Raine...
Laguna and Raine never got married...it wasn't until the end of the game, when everyone had the chance to go to whichever time they wanted...Laguna chose to go back in time and see Raine, at which point he asked her to marry him.
OR they did get secretly married, and they just chose to show the scene at the end of the game...which makes not a lot of sense...
So if there were a prequel, Raine still would have died, and Laguna wouldn't have been there for her.

I reallllly want to know more about Lunatic Pandora. All we know (that the game tells us) is that the Cetra found it and erected it at Tears Point, not knowing that it would cause the Lunar Cry; which would in turn wipe out the entire race...
I want to know where on earth Lunatic Pandora came from. o_O
I'm assuming it's some...outer space virus thing like Jenova was.

I always assumed that
particular scene was just a flashback between Laguna and Raine, and you see Laguna in his middle age looking at Raine's gravestone with his name on it

I wanna know about this Hyne(?) guy that the sorceresses decended from. Who was this dude I mean really?

I'm 99% sure they never say where it comes from in the game, only that the Cetra discovered in somewhere on a continent other than Esthar. My best guess would probably be the Trabia Continent, because there's nothing really there and it looks like a place where a Crystal Pillar would be erected. :neomon:

I really liked its purpose though; to connect the Moon and the Planet and make it as one. The fact that it's named 'Pandora' and releases a whole bunch of monsters like Pandora's Box made me think about my meaning in life, too. xD

It's an unsolved mystery.

I wanna know about this Hyne(?) guy that the sorceresses decended from. Who was this dude I mean really?

From Wiki:

The Great Hyne is a character mentioned in Final Fantasy VIII. According to legend, Hyne is the creator of mankind, and the first sorceress ever to exist. Upon creating the first humans, Hyne went into a deep sleep. When he awoke, he was surprised to find so many humans, so he decided to kill all of their children. The humans, however, resisted, and a huge battle between Hyne and the humans began. After many years of fighting, Hyne surrendered and gave half of his body to the humans, and that is where the tradition of Sorceresses and the passing down of their powers began. However, his other half escaped and ran away, still possessing the most powerful magic in existence, and there has been no sight of that half ever since.

Sounds like a cool guy. :elmo:

I don't see why there shouldn't be a sequel or movie or something. It could be about Laguna like trying to find Squall *la la time passes* and then they meet up and Squall's all mad for leaving his mom and then they start fighting on a tower and Laguna says "Squall, i am your..." wait, this has been used before hasn't it?

But the first part sounds cool :P

I remember that dude in Balamb going on about that. I hated that man, I thought Id actually find out more about it but alas no

But see, I want to know what hapened to his other half. And the half he gave to humans if he gave it to them all why are there only like one or 2 sorceress?

Ugh it would have been so fun to learn more and more about Hyne...
Remember in FFX when they had secrets written in Al Bhed all over the world...they should have had like "history lessons" on Hyne and Lunatic Pandora, and the Cetra. XD

And yeah I was pretty P.o.ed that I didn't get to learn more about Lunatic Pandora...=[

I think the story of VIII was so interesting, it would be nice to learn more about that stuff. I don't want to dare say the word prequel because it might give sqenix moar ideas about title raping >_<

But see, I want to know what hapened to his other half. And the half he gave to humans if he gave it to them all why are there only like one or 2 sorceress?

Well if giving up that half began the tradition of passing down sorceress' powers, something must have happened where he thought it would be a good idea to pass down his powers, leaving that half of his body useless afterwards, methinks. There's probably more than one or two sorceresses, they're just not mentioned in the storyline.

Of course, this is all speculation. >_<

I'm confused. =/ Everyone had the chance to go to whichever time they wanted...? I didn't know that...I thought those were just flashbacks, and in Laguna's case, he was remembering Raine when she was still alive...with a ring on her finger. Perhaps he merely proposed to her as there wasn't any indication in the in-game that they actually married. But then again, it's been so long since I last played, so I don't remember the details. >.>

I don't know...it's confusing me now too...because that's how I always saw it. And there is no mention in the game that Laguna and Raine were married...

See...before time compression begins, Dr. Odine tells the team that they have to use their minds to reach their destination. The team all agree to think of one place to meet up in the future; Edea's orphanage...by using the power of thought, they manage to reach the orphanage.

After Ultimecia is defeated, time begins to return to it's normal flow...

Remember the ending sequence when Squall is transported to the orphanage and he sees himself as a boy?
Shortly after, Ultimecia is transported to the same location...

We can only assume that Squall's thoughts lead him back to the orphanage when he was a child...to the place where he was "happy" once.
Ultimecia's thoughts on the other hand lead her to the orphanage because for one, she was looking for someone to pass her powers onto...and she had just been beaten my Squall...so if she has "passing powers on to another sorceress" and "squall" on her mind...where will she go? To the same place where there's another sorceress, and squall!

So naturally, I assumed that Laguna used his thoughts of Raine to travel back and see her again. ^.^

I always thought they were flashbacks too, I think Id rather remember it that way, it just seems....nicer I think.
I mean all he did was put a ring on her finger so even then it wouldnt technically class as marriage, just...them commiting themselves to each other o_O

Yet again a thread has left me questioning the goings on in one of my favourite games :wacky:

Me too! but then i sort of thought they were like memories.
When Laguana is at the grave and the bit before i thought he was wishing what would have happened, what he should have done maybe?

Gonna have to battle Utimacea agagin now just to get the ending up cos i forgotten it too! :neomon:

I think that the bit with Laguna was a flashback, and then the bit with Squall and Ultimecia was them actually going back... See, Laguna is in his old outfit in the flashback, where as Squall and Ultimecia are in their normal clothing. The change in outfits for Laguna was what made me think it was flashback.

Or it could be that that's exactly what happened in the past and he was just reliving the moment. That's what I've always believed in anyway.

Hmm.. I always assumed that they were married.. Now that you mention it though, it isn't mentioned anywhere in the game! I guess he just proposed and they never really did tie the knot.

I guess I'd want to see it go into a little more detail about Rinoa's relationship with Seifer. It's not really that important, but I've always wondered just how serious they were.
