Hi, I recently bought Final Fantasy 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,and 9. I'm currently on 8 for the second time, but my problem is where do I start?? should I finish 8 and then go to 7 and then 9? And the 10? And the finally finish 12? man, I haven't finished 12 and I have about 398 hours on that game getting everything. i own all the strategy guides to them I just don't know where to start? I'm thinking of playing 4 at the sametime. lol but Its hard to get the time while working on the ambulance and hospital and dealing with my girlfriend lol any advice i would really apperciate it. thx

I just worked my way through from the start when Id not played 1 - 6, the decision to play what game next was already made for me because I'd just decided to keep it simple and play 'em in order

maybe finish XII though, if you've already put all them hours in

Yeah thats a good idea, I'm at the end already just doing some good ole backtracking...uhh i havent played that game in a year

I'm the same on my XII file tbh, I just go back to it every now and then when I can be arsed, I just have loose ends to tie up and thats when I start to loose interest

ps. FFV is SHITE

Yeah, Well my main goal since I was a kid was to eventually collect all of them with guides so just fulfilling in a child hood dream lol. but i never finished 7 or 9 and can't rember the story so i'm psyched to play again.

Finish 12, then 7,8,9.

Other than that I don't really know what to tell you.

Except probably welcome to the forums and please ignore my username at the minute...

Lol, Thanks. 8 I'm on disc two right after I beat Edea the Sorceress. And 10 im at the begging were the sin ship demolished that whole town. 12 i'm at the end where if you run into that place in the middle then you have to stay their lol...so i'm kind of here and their lol yeah but thats just FF i didnt mention arc the lad collection i satrted 2 years ago lol

Yeah, finish 12 and 8 off first. You sound like you're quite far into those two games, so it's advisable to clear them first rather than come back later and forget nearly everything that has been happening.

As for the order, it's entirely up to you I suppose. It just depends on what kind of a FF experience you want next. I personally don't think that Final Fantasies 1-3 aren't that imperative enough to be played at all. It's only from 4 onwards where in my opinion where the franchise begins to really shine. But of course, it doesn't mean you shouldn't play 1-3 as they're still decent games of their own.

I think you should go onto the earlier games first and then progress to the newer ones. It's a good way to see just how Final Fantasy has evolved since the days of FFI and it lets you cover enough of the games to understand the references made in 9 (it features many references to past FF games before it).
