I know people who have quit

6 characters in a battle? Erm...problems with that.

- We've never used anymore then 5 characters in a Final Fantasy. Most games, it's been 3/4, some 5. Sometimes, you could make set groups up, but not more then 5. I
- It's way too time consuming - EXP would be spread out even more, not amounting to much overall for each character.
- Plus, keeping an eye on every single character (bearing in mind I'm thinking of the FFXII battle system, not previous ones), will be a painful task - limiting it to a small enough and manageable number will make things a lot better. Like how the system ran in XII anyway.

Dear Lord, I had hard enough time keeping up with 3 characters never mind if we had 6, that would just be a nightmare. And also as Rulia points out thar, the exp would be shite per character.

i would like some romance within the party it makes the party closer and the characters involved also introduces twists and turns in a possible sub-plot

also the espers are nothing short of useless so keep the fighting them to get them part but make them useful
with better attacks and no time limit.

let us fly the airships =]

I dunnow, wouldn't flying your airship kinda make exploration in general redundant? D:
The Strahls no fun. It's tiny, and unimpressive. Give me an Ifrit ship, and I'd be happy. But then I'd still be walking all over, exploring. <3 Cannot ignore the beautiful landscapes!

Srsly, if we cannot fly the Imperials shipz, no point in flying at all :wacky:

i LOVE ff12

6 charactors would be annoying

if im somewhere easy, i usually just take out one person. i hate how EVERYONE tries to attack a lvl 1 cactoid when youre trying to find stuff.

plus its fun being able to have youre choice of one, two, or three charactors.

but its too hard if it where to get over that. despite the fact that we can have guests. but you dont need to worry bout them, so

&& i never use the Strahl (sp.)
i agree, very beautiful landscapes. i love it.

I just can't get into this game :(

hey guys, Im a hugggge Final Fantasy Fan lol i loved ff10 and im a fan of 7,8 and 9 : Currently working my way through them. When FF12 came out i didnt have my ps2 anymore so i bought one to play it and got the game and guide, was really excited but I just can't get into the game. Im not surre what it is? I don't mind the battle system but i find the game confusing and i don't understand the plot completely. Also I think the characters aren't that interesting. Its really crap because you know when you want to enjoy a game so much but you just cant.

Any advice/words of wisdom lol to try and get me to start it again?

I just got FFVII today in the post can't wait to restart it, its been about 8 years since i played it and i got onto disc 2 then didnt go back.

I'm not gonna be much help if you're looking for someone to get you back into the game. haha

Like you, I also had a difficult time enjoying Final Fantasy XII. The plot is dry, the characters are boring, and the game's too linear. The battle system isn't poor, but I prefer the way battles were done in past Final Fantasy titles.

My sugggestion: forget FFXII and enjoy FFVII. Just me, though. You might find yourself enjoying FFXII if you give it another go.

From what I've heard the first 6 hours are kinda of an extended tutorial going over all the basics and that's what it felt to me. However my flatmate who's a bigger FF fan than me has got 25 hours clocked on it and it still seems incredibly dull in terms of story and characters who to me are the worst and most annoying in the modern games.

Give it a serious try but don't force yourself to play it.

Lol seems like im not the only one who thinks the game is a tad "dry" then . I go back to uni in 2 days so i can play ffvii, its probs going to take over my life, which isnt good considering i have exams and lots of peoples birthdays when i get back lol

I thought it was a rubbish game, I went out and bought it the day after it came out, and after 1 day i was back playing final fantasy X thinking wtf did i spend all that money on and why did i wait so long for it? It was a rip off of the old summoner PS2 game
My advice try an older final fantasy or a different RPG game , id go for star ocean 3 til the end of time its the complete opposite of ffXII

I couldn't get into it either, did complee it....eventually... but not wit the same enthusiasm I did the other FF's. It took me months and I still haven't replayed it......altho I should do really because it's not all THAT bad

I made the same mistake of buying it on release aswel and the bloody hardback guid which I have never even used, it just sits there gathering dust -_-

Il replay it, one day :monster:

Probably the best advice there. Hmm, how far along are you anyway? I know the game starts out slow, but it does get somewhat interesting later on. Well, I guess that depends on your taste. I thought it was alright, although I must admit that it isn't one of my favorites in the series.

If you have any other games that you want to play first, then by all means, play it. =) Save FFXII for later when you don't have any other distractions - that way you won't feel forced whilst playing it just so you can tackle any other game.

I played it, but haven't beaten it yet. I'm stuck at this boss battle (five mini pumpkin head thingies or something), and I can't bring myself to level up more to continue onwards.

I also bought it around the release, but since I haven't beaten the game yet, I'm still not sure if I can kick myself in the ass for that yet.

Look, if you don't like the game, you don't want play it, then don't get into it. You're not showing any sign of interest right now, as you said yourself you were going to play VII. If you play it now without the right mindset, then you're going to make yourself hate it.

I could say what I think on the game, seeing as I'm one of the very few people on this forum who thoroughly enjoyed it, and gave it credit. Same with Riku, he's one of the very few active posters who love this game.

But only if you care. And if only someone doesn't rape my opinion. When I say this, it only really applies to Carnage. He loves to hate FFXII, and he knows that if he argues with me, it'll get right on my..well, yeah. :wacky:

Just let me know, and I'll either tell you here or via PM.

The first few hours are kinda sluggish, but if you can push yourself through the first big event where you meet Balthier, Fran, and Ashe... and then get sent to Nalbina prison... thigns start to go up real fast. The plot begins to unfold, and the game really starts. It really is a great game, you just have to be able to make it past the sluggish beginning.

The beginnings to many a Final Fantasy have been dreary. I myself have a save file to combat that with Final Fantasy X where I begin on the shores of Besaid when I decide to play through it once again. Trudge through it, sit up, pay attention, it's an extremely good game which I enjoyed spending many hours playing. Everyone's different and maybe this title doesn't endear to you so don't take it as a negative, you cannot help your gaming tastes. Do not force yourself to enjoy XII, simply go back to playing what entertains you good sir!

Played 12 For 5 Minutes Last Night And Turned It Of Cuase It Lacked The Pull Of The Other Games In My Collection Plus I Need I Really Need Multiple Hits And 18%, 9.65 & 7% Are Just Not Goood Enough Dammit!!!!!

You Sir, are a fool. Taste is indeed indigenous to the individual but a curse on you for not even attempting to let XII charm you.

5 minutes?! But the intro cinematic is 7 minutes long! And then you get a very long winded tutorial. Unless you play for at least 30 minutes, you don't even get introduced to the main character! I would seriously suggest giving it another shot, maybe when you're more relaxed and/or bored of your other games, lol.

As for others who have quit... I did the same thing when I got the game. I played it for about 15 hours and stopped playing. Not becasue I was bored of it or anything like, but because I got a PS3 and didn't know about the memory card adapters, thus I lost my save data. Took me a long time to start playing it again, but once I did, and got past where I was, I got hooked, and couldn't stop playing it.

Now, its obvious that I love the game. Not everything about it, but most... there are some things I'm still rather sore about, like the summons... I mean, WTF? Quickenings basically took the place of summons in this game because they tried to adapt the FFX summon system over to the new gambit battle system and failed miserably, imo... and since the Quickenings essentially replaced the summoning purpose, you were essentailly left without a limit-break-type-attack, not that Quickenings even act like that, anyway, though I understand thats how they were designed. But anyway!

Aside from that, this title is one of my favorite FF titles, if not my favorite. It definately features my favorite character (obviously). So yeah... I think that if those who quit actually try to give it a try, they'll find something that really catches them and keeps them going.

I'm puzzled by people who say this isn't a Final Fantasy. A good storyline, love plot, does not make Final Fantasy what it is. I know it's a needed component, is a bit...hm, don't know the word tbh! Weird? A good storyline is required for all games, it isn't a unique component for FF.
FFXII has what it needs to make it a Final Fantasy.

I see somebody had their caps lock on :wacky:

Seriously though, be patient dude O_O XII does start off kinda boring, but you can't expect the game to give you uber weapons and throw you into super special awesome battles right off the bat. XII is like a Godzilla movie, the first half (or in this case, first 3/4 of the story) is excruciatingly boring, but once the action kicks in, good god is it awesome. Dr. Cid and Gabranth = pure win. It's just regrettable that the story only starts to get interesting when it's so close to being over.

As for wanting higher combo rates...again, be patient. Katanas and daggers have the highest combo rate, and you won't be getting those for a while.

FFXII has what it needs to make it a Final Fantasy.

And therein lies the problem of XII, it lacks a good story. It's a Final Fantasy, but doesn't deserve a number. It should have just been a separate game to go along with the rest of the Ivalice Alliance, seeing as how it's a single player MMO basically. And I'm sure you're going to retaliate to that, so to cut you off...no, it's not a fact that XII's story is a massive pile of fail. It's just my opinion. And apparently alot of others share that opinion, from my experience on FF boards and /v/. What I'm getting at, I suppose, is that there is alot more division in the FF fanbase over XII than VII or X.
