The Purpose of Bees and Wasps;
In order for certain flowers to bear fruit (apples, cherries, etc.), they require pollination. Bees and wasps (hornets, too, I believe) have itty bitty hairs on their legs which the pollen sticks to as they feed upon the nectar of the flower. As they move on to the next flower to feed, the pollen is spread and collected simultaneously. Bees and wasps aren't the only pollinating insects. Butterflies and the lot also help with pollination.
