Ultimecia's Castle. Worst stage in the game. I've always hated this stage, it's caused me many deaths before. But today, I was playing as a Lv. 16 Kefka vs a Lv. 16 Squall CPU with equipment on High. The fight took forever and was sooo annoying. Whenever we went into chase, the camera would get stuck behind something I couldn't see what I was doing, I kept getting stuck into a wall and Squall would just keep whaling on me and it was hard to escape from it, those stupid void things that teleport you are really easy to get knocked into, and whenever I try to attack Squall, he'd just grind on the rails like it's his job. And to make things worse, this was the Omega version of the stage. In the end, while I was in God Mode, I tried to setup an opportunity to use Trine and finish it, but Squall came out of NOWHERE and HP attacked me and killed me. I was gonna blame the stage like I always do, but then I thought. Maybe it's just because I might suck with Kefka or something. So I tried it again, Lv. 16 Kefka vs Lv. 16 Squall with equipment on High. Same summons, same equipment, same everything, only on we played on the FF9 stage. And I OWNED Squall. Setup a perfect Trine attack and it was over in less than 30 seconds. So...yeah...I hate Ultimecia's Castle with a passion. Please tell me I'm not the only one.

You're not the only one, PK ^-^ I'm not someone who hates the stage, but you're definitely not the only one xD I've had friends who've said to me that they hate it.

You make it sound like the stage is working against you, really, but that stage is actually one of the best for a LOT of characters. The small confined space makes it easy for the slower characters to get around quicker. It makes it easier for you to Wall Rush your opponent, and if you had the right Acc. for the job, you could do some serious damage through that stage strategy xD It can makes for quick escapes, which are nice sometimes. Lastly, if you can master the stage, you have less of a chance to lose against your opponent (if they are a player).

All I can really say on this matter - to try help you - is that you have to learn that every stage has their own secrets. Every stage has a way to help the player, and disadvantage the CPU. Even Chaos at Lvl 110 in Inward Chaos Story was a simple match (after the 4 hours of trying to beat him with Zidane *cough cough*) when I thought about the advantages I had over him in his stage. I set myself up for Wall Rush Acc. Set, and bent that demon over and smashed him hard.

I wish you luck, PK =) Keep up the great work. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to post. I'll be here to help~

That's my second least favorite level. Mainly because of the ceiling and how it teleports your opponent away from whatever move your doing if you go to high up. >_>

But really, my least favorite level is Pandemonium. It's just to cramped to work with. The spikes in the omega version aren't that bad, but it really sucks when you're stuck in a corner and can't move so you get torn to pieces.

Do you guys find yourselves choosing your Stages? Just out of curiosity =)
I've always kept my stages on Random unless I'm actually hunting for a Battlegen piece from a specific stage.

Confined stages make it harder for range based characters to be used to their full potential, though they can still be used to their full potential :3 You have to remember that. Every character has a ranged set, and a melee set. Sure, the focus is there in most characters, so the mixing of the two isn't as strong, but everyone has a movelist that allows them the choice of using long range as a tactic, or short range.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: Work with the stage to boost your chances of winning against your opponent. Believe in yourself, and win it!

Well to be honest, the problem with Pandemonium isn't the moveset or strategy, IMO it's the freaking camera angles. -_-

You know you have the option of changing your camera angle, right?
D-Pad is your camera. You can just move it around. Changing the sensitivity should make the camera move quite fast. The only time you wouldn't be able to change the camera angles are during Chase Mode.

Which of course is always where the problem occurs. xD

If that's the case, there's the option of turning up your sounds and going by that (and a bit of luck xD). They will always say a phrase if they are going to HP Attack, and they'll just give a little "Umph" sound when they are continuing the chase mode ^-^

I've been saved a few times by just listening to the enemy's sounds when I can't see around the corner. In general, the CPU AI won't do anything for a .8-1.2 second time frame. If you don't hear anything by then, dodge. If you do hear something, dodge if it's a BRV, or wait if it's a HP.

I won't say that I can just listen to a battle to determine what to do, but there have been times (with a little bit of luck) where I've avoided death, and changed the angle, by dodging in a certain direction when being cornered and unable to see because of walls.

Remember: Listen.

You are not the only one. I dont like this stage one bit. The voids on top are so gay and the battle could get weird. Like I get sucked up and then get broken by my enemy. ex items keep coming and Whoever gets them usually wins. I hate this stage. But the rift is pretty bad too. Also Ultimecias castles rails are all I ride on to actually have fun in that stage.

It's not one of my favourite stages... but I don't hate it. It's a pretty nifty stage when using Onion Knight. There's an awful lot of different angles you can attack from as well as abusing the void traps yourself. :wacky:

It does, however, piss me off a bit in Chaos mode. >_> Especially when I'm about to jump over a gear for an EX boost and it activates and damages me. -__-

I find it most annoying when playing against someone like Ultimecia herself, or CoD. >_> It can get a little hairy trying to avoid magic attacks when you pop up and there's your opponent ready to wail on you. xDD

In all, though, it can be quite fun. Just don't get back into a corner... cos that's not good. D:

Back THEM into the corner. :ryan:

i totally agree with you, this stage is by far the most annoying in the game. it is difficult to get to the ex-cores and the bloody gears get in the way oh it is making me annoyed just writing about it lol

I hate it too. It's so big and your opponent can keep stalling you out. Banish traps are even on the roof and it is hard to meet requirement win in 10 seconds. It is also very cramped and only suits a defensive aerial battle. I like the rift though.

I love this stage, not only does it allow for unseen holy sniping, it also counters characters that lack good close ranged awesome

Plus, no one really ever enters chase mode
