Those moments like Cloud and Tifa riding on Barret's arms or riding the Dolphin or seeing Red XIII walking like a human or Barret pounding his chest ( :ffs: ) just won't be feasible in a "realistic" remake. I keep seeing people say they can't wait for those type of scenes and I think y'all going to be seriously disappointed when you play the remake and discover those type of scenes to be gone. They were awesome in the original and hilarious and gave the game the charm that it had—but ya'll can't be serious when you say you want to see that in HD? That'd be like demanding the characters for FF6 keep their wacky bulging eyes when they get surprised in an FVI remake. :lew: The original fun, quirky and dated graphics of the original game could get away with this type of unrealistic yet funny moments but it just won't look right or funny seeing it done in realistic graphics.

I'm sure the devs will figure out how to incorporate those same vibes, but to keep those scenes exactly the way they are in HD... It just doesn't seem realistic to me. :lew:

This is why I always wanted a "remake" more along the lines of FFIV remake. It would have been an update but could have kept all the silly moments, too. And usually I would just sit back and watch the fandom freak out about stuff like this (when it inevitably happens, which it will) but I have a feeling that a lot of people are going to make or break this game based on whether or not SQEN keeps the "funny" moments. And that just won't be fair towards Square if people throw a hissy fit over something like that. :hmmm:

I think there are a fair few they can still keep in. But yeah, the visual gags are probably mostly gone. That being said, I can't wait for the moment where Cloud gets all ansty and nervous in the submarine to be in the remake. #MakeCloudHumanAgain

I would love to see some of the crazier moments as well, and I think they could fit in tonally. But yeah, I don't think they'll attempt it because of how much tact it would require.

I can't wait for Cid to tell us to drink our God Damn Tea! I also can't wait for Barret to cus about the pizza and blame it for the problems in the slums!

I can't wait until Tifa is the central love interest this time. lol

I don't know. I'd really like to see them at least attempt a few of these scenes. It wouldn't be entirely impossible to have humour combined with HD graphics.

That said, I wouldn't exactly protest outside the Square Enix offices if they didn't include my favourite scenes. I'll just treat the remake as a different interpretation of the source material, compartmentalise it, and then still enjoy the original FFVII with all of the quirkiness which made it so great.

I guess the Mr. Dolphin scene would be a little bit tricky to include in a 'realistic' interpretation of FFVII, but there is absolutely no excuse for excluding the cheesy Gold Saucer play! Ballerina twirls and melodramatic head motions and all!

Far as ridiculous moments for the remake, I'm pretty indifferent about all of them.

I'm pretty sure that was Cid on the tea thing.

Oops I did put Barret...no Idea why, minus the fact that I thought about both of the quotes at the same time :wacky: thanks for catching the mistake!

I hope they just bleep Barret's cursing rather than tone his language down. Now that would be pretty funny. :hmmm:

I guess, though... a lot of these funny moments would just be taken out altogether. I can see them going for a more angsty and serious tone with the remake so something like hitching a ride on Mr. Dolphin or Red XIII failing spectacularly at disguising himself as a Shinra Soldier and still getting away with it would be very unlikely. But hey, I could be pleasantly surprised! Moments like that only made the original game a heck of a lot more enjoyable for me, so taking them out would give the game a completely different tone.

To be perfectly honest, in light of all the grim, super-serious, cinematic games we've been getting such as Witcher, Horizon, Skyrim, etc., etc. (As much as I do love those games) I'm getting a whole lot of fatigue from such experiences. I would be a whole lot more interested in this if the developers were suddenly to decide to ditch the current look they're going for and opted for something that would allow them to get away with the kind of ridiculous humour from the original while still looking absolutely stunning. And I don't mean this whole friggin' "chibi" look either. :mokken:
