They're just amphibious humanoid beings that live near swamps and marshes like the Moonflow. They can swim really well, but are slow and clumsy on land, and can't quite grasp the language spoken on Spira (English / Japanese / whatever else to the player).
They're in FFX as well as being in FFX-2, and are crazy creatures that everyone loves because they speak in an odd way, and ask the player if they'd like to ride ze shoopuf.
