So, did you like the way you obtained Gil in this game? By selling your loot? Would you rather have the old system back by gaining gil from defeating the monsters?

Discuss: How do you like to get your gil?

i think it was good to restrict the way you obtain money in FF, now you have to go out and kill for money for real, stealing items also gets you better items. or selling old weapons etc.

I sell old weapons, loot I recieve and steal and also from the monsters I defeat. It is a great way of buying items and such and if you dont have enough, then go out and defeat some monsters and get gil and exp.

Yeah,, it's so much more realistic doing it this way, though it does have it's one flaw: having those teleport stones in the loot area of your inventory. xD
I remember I sold all my teleport stones once 'cause I was selling everything.
And the fact that you have to find a merchant to sell the loot to.
But otherwise, I loved this.

Anyways, yeah, loved this one better than getting money from monsters automatically.

I liked the idea of obtaining loot to sell. It wasn't too much different than FF games of the past as you still had to battle enemies to obtain gil. This was just a different way of accomplishing that task. In my opinion it was far easier to obtain gil in FF12 than any other FF game. You didn't really have to kill an enemy to steal its items.

Lol, yeah its a bitch when you sell stuff quickly and you sell something you need! I sold the serpent skin I recieved and needed for a quest, but I got the best item in the end anyhoo!

I thought that the system of gathering loot was more realistic than that of other games. In those, sure, humans drop Gil, that's a given, but animals also dropped it - wierd. I've even seen that referenced in a flash cartoon. Having them drop pelts and fangs made sense to me, and I thought it was a good descision.

Meh, it didn’t seem to bother me all that much… If anything, it forces the player to go out and fight a whole lot more for loot. I will say though, of all the FF’s I’ve played, this one is the toughest in regards to making large amounts of Gil…

I thought it wasn't quite difficult to get gil in FFXII. When you set yourself to level up, you gain a lot of loot in the process. The game benefits you the most.

I thought it was a welcome change ^_^ it added a sense or realism to the way you gain money and in it own way encourages you to train up - so you benefit even more.

Hard to get money? Not really - as you advance in the game, get more loot (which is easy), you'll be fine money. At least with this game I never had the problem of getting too much pointless money, unless I decided to sell loot.

I like this method a lot ^_^

I sold loot and old weapons/armour. I found this was a better way of obtaining gil, and it never left me short either. I often ended up with more than I needed, since I fought a lot of battles and ended up getting rare items in chains.

I sold and chained myself.

I personally thought it was one of the best ways to get Gil in the FF games. As stated above it was more realistic and how you could create more weapons and items by picking up what they had dropped and selling it.

It was a nice feature I would not mind seeing again.

You can sell your loot within FFXII. You just can't gain it by defeating enemies. That's the only thing.

It kinda makes it too easy by beating a fiend and then getting Gil that way. Obtaining loot and then selling it was way better.

I prefer XII's system, its the only FF game where I'm half way through, have over levelled my characters and still am not filthy rich.
