Back in the day (When I was ten, going on eleven years old) I spent a lot of time playing FFVII and, also, looking up for any secrets/unlockables! Looking back on those days now is utterly laughable. There were a bunch of rumours flying around for secret bosses, or ways to unlock Zack as a playable character, or to resurrect Aeris. Of these rumours, there were two that I tried incredibly hard to uncover.

1. Zack joining your party! Alright, this rumour unlocked the secret to recruiting Zack into your party. It involved spending five hours battling Shinra troops in the subway before going into the Sector 5 reactor. You know the part where you have to jump off the train? It works better if you hop off early, but you can backtrack through the subway until you reach this gate that is guarded by Shinra troops. Your arrival there triggers an alarm that summons endless waves of Shinra troops to attack you. After each fight, you get the option to either stay and fight, or leg it.

Now, I can't remember whether it was actually five hundred battles you had to fight, or whether it was having to battle them for five hours but upon completing the task, apparently Zack makes an appearance and agrees to join your team.

Needless to say, the rumour was just that. A rumour. :monster:

2. Secret Boss "Earth Weapon". Well, this one was ridiculous. This Weapon was cunningly disguised as a mountain! In order to fight this boss, you had to walk around every mountain in the world map and you would eventually encounter it. Yep, I fell for this one too. :hmmm:

So, what are the most ridiculous rumours you've heard for this game? Now, I'm not talking story-wise here. I'm talking about the sort of rumours that encourage people to run around willy-nilly doing some of the most ridiculous tasks in a futile attempt to unlock some new playable character, or fight some hidden boss. Have you ever fallen for any of them and gone as far as trying them for yourself, only to wonder why the hell it wasn't working?

With that Zack rumour, I don't even know why I wanted him in my party so much that I would spend hours fighting Shinra troops. -__- I mean, on the upside, my characters and materia had levelled up shitloads, but still. I can't believe how much time I wasted on this game chasing rumours. :(

I remember this one rumor about how you can bring Aeris back by doing some mumbo jumbo crap. I don't recall all of it, but I do know I fell suspect to it.

Also, the one where you can actually control Sephiroth. I fell for that one too. I think it was something like you had to have on specific materia before Cloud recaps and recalls his younger days or something of that sort lolz

Haha. I remember trying to bring back Aeris. I read a couple of them. I remember one involving knights of the round and the underwater materia.... or something you can do to transform the underwater materia into something else.... can't remember exactly. I searched every corner of that game I could looking for ANY secret way to bring Aeris back. Never did find it though

I remember being told holding down the buttons for a soft reset would grant me all character's limit breaks. Which, at the time seemed legit because I mostly played Vice City and San Andreas.

However, that's the only thing I've ever fell for. Can't say I've trolled myself as hard as you have :monster:

Hahaha, I remember looking into that and deciding I really couldn't be arsed trying any of it after the whole Zack fiasco. :monster:

This reminded me of MGS2 where everything starts going really glitchy and that bloke tells you to reset the console. I stupidly fell for that for some reason. :hmmm:
