How did you start out?

Well, my new course earned me a lot of new stuff.

A new lifestyle... A new lap top... And the complete Adobe Master Collection CS5.

Sweet stuff, really. But pointless if I don't make use of them, no? I take issue with Adobe in particular, lol. There's not a single application in there that I know how to use. Experimenting's been how I'm going at it so far.

However... Experienced graphics makers... I'm keen to work on some signatures for myself some day in the future... So I'm starting out now.

But I'd like to know. How did you guys started out?

Are there any good sites for renders and all? Are there some techniques that are especially useful?

www.planetrenders.net a great website for renders.... also... google your best friend in graphic design... search for something like say... zidane render into google to get renders

www.sigtutorials.com this was where i first looked at tutorials when I started out also if you have trouble with photoshop search up photoshop tutorials in google or youtube... finally... i started posting my work on here from the very start... I found this to be a great help as well... as others gave comments on how to improve them and that really helped

finally this sounds a bit weaid but whenever somebody gave a tip.. I wrote it don in a word doc.. this helped me a lot when I started out

Speaking of which, any tips about making the background of the signature? Do you guys actually self-create those backgrounds (especially those that are not images of some specific place)?

All of those have tutorials. Typing in "Beginner sig tutorial" might help too, try DeviantArt for example. I hope that helps!

it depends on the designer i made all my backgrounds soo far but some people use stock images for example my sig looks like it was made using an stock image of a waterfall. and then effects were added to it
