How can i add a status ?

You just click on the yellowy thing below your rep bars and a box appears. Just type something in and that becomes your status.
 
There should be a little gold button in the space where your status would be (under your Rep bars). Click it, type something and save it. Alternatively if you go to your profile, there should be a section to the right where your avatar is and shit, you can change it there by clicking the gold button next to status.
