hot and cold mini-game

hey guys,

so, i am on a retro Final Fantasy kick these days, and i am playing through the older Final Fantasy games, trying to complete all the side-quests/extras i didn't get around to on my first plays.

which brings me to my present misery otherwise known as the chocobo Hot and Cold mini-game of FFIX. at present, my Choco is light-blue and his little beak is at level 14. i have gotten the following chocographs at the Chocobo Forest:

streamside
between mountains
healing shore
abandoned beach
faraway lagoon
bird's-eye lagoon
small beach

when my Choco turned blue, i went back to the Chocobo Forest and Mene said something about how there were more Chocographs in the Chocobo Lagoon, so i went and dug around for a good while, but have not found anything (besides "normal" items).

after researching online, i noticed i am missing the "Cold Field" chocograph that i was supposed to get in the Chocobo Forest with my yellow Choco, before getting the Lagoon ones.

at least, i think that's the problem. did i mess up by getting a blue Choco before getting the Cold Field chocograph? i've been digging and digging for it back in the Forest, but nothing...

gah, this mini-game is hard. do i just keep digging or did i mess up?

No, you haven't messed up whatsoever. It doesn't matter what colour your chocobo is, you can always go back for Chocographs you've missed. Just keep digging. It's frustrating at times, but you'll get it eventually.

I did this side quests, one of the better chocobo side quests in all of FF, many times
and if I remember right the cold field chocograph area is on the ice/lost continent? which if you are at the lagoon means you have the blue narciss? cant you just go and get the cold field chocograph now and check if thats what the problem is?

Do you mean you have the Cocograph and havent got the treasure yet or you havent yet got the Chocograph itself?

i don't have the Chocograph itself yet. the Cold Field chocograph is the last one i am missing from the first 8 that i can get at the Chocobo Forest.

it is just that since i have been digging foreeeeverrrr, i thought that maybe i screwed up by evolving Choco to blue/going and digging at the Lagoon before actually getting the Cold Field chocograph. but i guess i just have to keep digging. oh dear lord, have mercy...

No, you haven't messed up whatsoever. It doesn't matter what colour your chocobo is, you can always go back for Chocographs you've missed. Just keep digging. It's frustrating at times, but you'll get it eventually.

ah, so i'm okay still? phew. i guess i just gotta keep at it then. man, this mini-game is hard. or maybe i just suck at it. XD

never mind about that the Mods usually just ban you for putting threads in the wrong place

Yeah this is why I got a damn Turbo controller other wise coz of this game I would have ended up with arthritis, you wanna play FFX to its max kiddo get digging

ha ha, you know...now that you mentioned arthritis, i noticed the digging in the Lagoon is hard for my poor baby Choco. i kept pounding on the square button like a maniac. talk about a workout. jeez.

thanks again for the tips! i guess i should get back to my digging. or go to sleep, dear god; it's almost 4 a.m., and i'm still playing videogames.
