Help with Facebook Search

Well ladies and gents, I am looking for someone on facebook whom I haven't seen since my early High School days (I must point out, however, that I do not have a facebook account) and I was told recently by a mutual acquaintance from our high school days that I happened to bump into the other day that the person I would like to find has a facebook page. Now, I've tried searching the person's name and I seem to only get about 3 people in the search results, none of whom are my target. I was wondering if by not being a registered facebook user my search results are somehow limited or otherwise obstructed until I create an account. I will be honest, I am not interested in any social websites, they seem like a complete waste of time. But this person was my best friend from middle school and early High School until his parents got divorced, from then on things seemed to disintegrate and he moved away, never heard from him again until recently. I would like to avoid going through the trouble of creating a facebook page unless I am certain that I am going to find him. So, does anyone know if facebook searches are limited to those who are not registered? I am no expert as you can tell.
 
If a persons profile is set to private, it won't show up in search results. Also, they may not have their real name (which would be a small chance), so I'm willing to be if he has a Facebook, it's his privacy settings that's preventing it from showing up in search results.
 
I have my FB Set up so no one can find me in search even if they know my full name. The only way for someone to find me is if they see me commenting on someone elses thing and actually click my profile from there.

This person might have it set the same.
 
It can be very difficult to find someone if you don't have their email. Does the friend you spoke to have him on his friend's list by chance? Since he mentioned that the person you're searching for is on facebook, it sounds like he may. You can try searching for that friend and then looking through his friends list to find the person you're looking for. I'm not sure if the profile will be limited if you don't have an account but it's worth a shot.
 
You wont be able contact them if youre not registered - well, not if they have any sense and dont have their private contact details on show for all to see

My profile is set to private, but ive set it so friends of friends can add me - no one not on my friends list can see anything other than my profile pic but if you were trying to find me, the only way you could was by registering and making sure we had at least one friend in common, if they are set to super private, you'd just have to hope that they added you, or tell your friend to tell them you'd like to add them as a friend etc.

If you do register though, make sure the first thing you do is go through all your pricvacy settings and put your profile on private, otherwise i could just click your profile and see all your comments and pictures etc
